Updated pony car drops its top.
Ford has revealed its facelifted Mustang convertible less than one week after it released the first images and details of the updated Mustang coupe.
With a restyled front end including new front guards, dual bonnet scoops, a lower-set grille and shark-eye stepped-headlights, the front end design of the Mustang convertible copies the look of the redesigned coupe.
Ford is yet to release any official images of the pony-car's rear end but buyers can expect to find the same tri-bar taillights, revised bootlid garnish panel and reprofiled rear bumper and diffuser as the coupe.
Other available features include a 12-inch customisable instrument cluster, driver assist technologies including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection and MyMode setting memory that keeps the Mustang in its last-used drive mode.
As with the coupe, American customers will join Australian buyers and will no longer be offered a V6 option. Instead the updated Mustang will be running the upgraded 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder and 5.0-litre V8 engines.
Ford will also add magnetically adaptive suspension, 10-speed automatic transmission and an bi-modal exhaust to control engine noise to the list of optional extras.
American customers will also be offered three new paint choices along with 12 alloy wheel designs, though Australian customers are likely to be offered a more streamlined list of options.
The new Mustang launches in the US in September, while the local launch is tipped to be early in 2018.

....to control engine noise....! Why on earth would you need something as nonsensical as this, the V8 noise is something important that sells cars, even a Mustang

Agreed Sidney, but even Porsche has an 'off' switch for sports exhaust (AKA showoff mode) esp. for a long (quiet) drive.

Still no manual option for the convertible??? Very upsetting.

Ford probably figured that you will be too busy waving back to all the girls that you wont have time to change gears. :-)
