It looks like justice for gingers is about to be served, after news surfaced that redheads might be getting their own ginger emoji following years of relentless campaigning.

According to website Emojipedia (yes, this website actually exists) the ginger emoji will be up for discussion at the Unicode Technical Committee meeting that's hosted by Apple.

"The lack of a redhead emoji has been the most frequent complaint from Emojipedia users in the past three months," Emojipedia said.

There's a few possibilities being thrown around too. Would it be a new, stand-alone person with red hair or will users be able to change the hair colour on existing emojis? The possibilities are endless.

Emojipedia has also explained that there's no formal decision on the redhead emoji but the conversation is happening and people are naturally very excited.

YouTuber and redhead campaigner CopperCab has said this will do great things for redheads who may get bullied for the colour of their hair, The Sun reports.

"It will make it more normal for people to come across redheads now, like ... in their phones," CopperVab said to the paper. "Anti-redhead sentiment is ABSOLUTELY a form of racism!" the campaigner also added.

Just last week Welsh MP Chris Bryant was sent a death threat after he wished Speaker John Bercow a "happy 'Kiss a Ginger' day" in the House of Commons.

The MP who is a redhead himself, wanted to celebrate being ginger and put an end to the tough time some children can experience in school over their hair colour.

"Some of the responses I've had have been brilliant but I've had one very, very nasty death threat which the police are dealing with," he told the BBC.
