Darshan Doshi

Darshan Doshi (born 16 January 1986) is an Indian musician and drummer, who played with various musical groups, currently with Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy as a rhythmist. He has also worked with various music directors on Bollywood film scores. Based in Mumbai, Doshi started performing at age of two. Over the years he has toured world over with globally known artists and worked with leading musicians of Hindi film industry. He established his name in Limca Book of Records as the youngest drummer of India in 1997. He is most known as the drummer in the hit rock-musical film, Rock On!! (2008) film soundtrack.

He also performs regularly on MTV India's live shows like MTV Unplugged and Coke Studio.

Early life and training

Born to Shailesh and Surbhi Doshi in Mumbai, his father was his first Guru. Later, Darshan got trained in Drums from the Greats Like Taufiq Qureshi, Ranjit Barot etc. Also his younger brother Umang Doshi who plays keyboards with Arijit Singh , Farhan Akhtar.

Avedis Zildjian Company

The Avedis Zildjian Company, simply known as Zildjian /ˈzɪldʒⁱən/, is an American cymbal manufacturer based in Norwell, Massachusetts. The company was founded in Constantinople by Armenian Avedis Zildjian in the 17th century, during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. Zildjian is nearly 400 years old, and thus is one of the oldest companies in the world. Zildjian also sells drum-related accessories, such as drum sticks and cymbal carriers. It is the largest cymbal manufacturer in the world.

On December 20, 2010, it was announced that Avedis Zildjian Company had merged with Vic Firth, Inc. According to the announcement, both companies will continue to run autonomously.

History

Beginnings

The first Zildjian cymbals were created in 1618 by Avedis Zildjian, an alchemist who was looking for a way to turn base metal into gold; he created an alloy combining tin, copper, and silver into a sheet of metal that could make musical sounds without shattering. Avedis was given the name of Zildjian (Zilciyân) by the Sultan Osman II (from the Turkish word zil – cymbal, dji – maker-seller, ian – a common suffix used in Armenian last names which means same as in English) and began an industry in 1623, the details of whose main product remained secret for generations. It became family tradition that only the company's heirs would know the manufacturing process.

Pearl Musical Instrument Company (パール楽器製造株式会社, Pāru Gakki Seizō Kabushiki Gaisha), simply known as Pearl, is a multinational corporation based in Japan with a wide range of products, predominantly percussion instruments.

History

Pearl was founded by Katsumi Yanagisawa -who began manufacturing music stands in Sumida, Tokyo- on April 2, 1946. In 1950, Yanagisawa shifted his focus to the manufacturing of drums and named his company "Pearl Industry, Ltd."

By 1953, the company's name had been changed to "Pearl Musical Instrument Company," and manufacturing had expanded to include drum kits, marching drums, timpani, Latin percussion instruments, cymbals, stands, and accessories.

Yanagisawa's eldest son, Mitsuo, joined Pearl in 1957 and formed a division to export Pearl products worldwide. To meet increasing worldwide demand for drum kits following the advent of rock and roll music, in 1961 Pearl built a 15,000 sq ft (1,400 m²) factory in Chiba, Japan to produce inexpensive drum kits that bore the brand names of more than thirty distributors such as Maxwin, CB-700, Stewart, Werco, Ideal, Crest, Revelle, Revere, Lyra, Majestic, Whitehall, Apollo, Toreador, Roxy, and Coronet.
