Talented Helsinki producer Yotto aka Otto Yliperttula is the latest signing to the Anjunadeep roster, debuting with a heavy-hitting two tracker “Memento / Azzurro”.
First heard in James Grant’s Anjunadeep Edition 50 mix “Memento” is a huge dancefloor weapon, echoing the bass-driven sounds of Jonas Rathsman and Dusky. Rolling low-end stabs surge through murky, atmospheric melodies leading to an epic breakdown.
“Azzurro” is another bass heavy roller, built around a growling groove that gives way to a nostalgic piano line and soaring pads, rising to a dramatic crescendo before dropping back into darkness.

Mario Lanza (1921-1959)
Almost 50 years after his death at age 38, Mario Lanza continues to command a formidable, worldwide following. A brief scan of Youtube alone reveals nearly 20 pages of Lanza videos, from contributors of diverse nationalities. And I receive far more comments about him than any other singer that I've posted on my channel. Yet, Lanza has probably been the subject of more rumors and conjecture than any classically-trained singer in history. Some of this gossip, concerning both the singer's voice and private life, has wormed its way into the video commentary sections on Youtube: Lanza died penniless, Lanza was a drug addict, Lanza's discography was small, he never varied dynamics, his voice was weak and fickle, electronically manipulated, etc. To those of us who have tirelessly sought out biographical material on the singer and, more importantly, listened extensively to his records, such remarks are always irksome in their foolishness. At best, they demonstrate a casual carelessness on the commentator's part when it comes to details about the singer. At worst, they show an arrogant, almost impudent ignorance and refusal to familiarize oneself thoroughly with Lanza's legacy before posting critical observations.
One of the most insidious myths about Lanza is that he had a weak, small voice. Well, here is a recording that alone makes a total hash of this critique: 'Un di all'azzurro spazio' from Giordano's "Andrea Chenier", recorded at HOME in 1952 (Yes, that means made at Lanza's residence. One man, one mic. Unedited.). There are at least 6 extant Lanza recordings of the aria (I have 5 of them), made between 1944 and '52. And although I love his nuanced 1950 RCA effort, this one is undeniably thrilling. It is not difficult to believe that this poet was a soldier: Lanza's reading is virile, gutsy, and direct in its moral outrage; scathing in its condemnation of aristocratic indifference. The instrument's heft, sweep, and squillo are immediately apparent and make a powerful impression.
Small voice? I'm sorry, but the evidence simply shows otherwise. Recordings like this and eyewitness statements are available today to those who take the time to search for them, and they present a voice that is full, ample, and powerful. It's not a matter of speculation, but rather incontrovertible, ESTABLISHED FACT. Was it the largest voice in recorded history? No. Nor was it flawless. To those who would say that I'm just a rabid fan who believes Lanza could do no wrong, I'll point out that there are a number of his recordings that I'm not crazy about. There are even entire albums that I dislike, i.e. his 1959"Caruso Favorites" and remake of "The Student Prince". But he also made a great many magnificent, nonpareil recordings that have stood the test of time. And I daresay he has not only grabbed countless opera and song aficionados by the heartstrings, but also inspired more tributes from established singers, and more students in their quests for operatic careers than any other single artist (I know for certain that I wouldn't be singing if it weren't for Lanza). I realize fully that timbral, stylistic, and interpretive preferences vary from one individual to the next, and that Lanza won't be everyone's favorite tenor, as he is mine. That's as it should be; it lends the operatic community much-needed variety. However, I will quarrel with anyone who plays loose with the facts or denies Lanza his rightful place in the pantheon of the greats.

Perfume
Perfume (UK /ˈpɜːr.fjuːm/ US /pərˈfjuːm/; French: parfum) is a mixture of fragrant essential oils or aroma compounds, fixatives and solvents - used to give the human body, animals, food, objects, and living-spaces "a pleasant scent".
Ancient texts and archaeological excavations show the use of perfumes in some of the earliest human civilizations. Modern perfumery began in the late 19th century with the commercial synthesis of aroma compounds such as vanillin or coumarin, which allowed for the composition of perfumes with smells previously unattainable solely from natural aromatics alone.
History
The word perfume derives from the Latin perfumare, meaning "to smoke through". Perfumery, as the art of making perfumes, began in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and was further refined by the Romans and Persians.
The world's first-recorded chemist is considered a woman named Tapputi, a perfume maker mentioned in a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd millennium BC in Mesopotamia. She distilled flowers, oil, and calamus with other aromatics, then filtered and put them back in the still several times. In India, perfume and perfumery existed in the Indus civilization (3300 BC – 1300 BC). One of the earliest distillations of Ittar was mentioned in the Hindu Ayurvedic text Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita.

Paolo Conte
Paolo Conte (born January 6, 1937) is an Italian singer, pianist, composer, and lawyer notable for his grainy, resonant voice, his colourful and dreamy compositions (evocative of Italian and Mediterranean sounds, as well as of jazz music, South American atmospheres, and of French-language singers like Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens) and his wistful, sometimes melancholic lyrics.
Career
Paolo Conte was born in Asti, Piedmont. His performing career began as a vibraphone player in local jazz bands. He began songwriting with his brother, guitarist Giorgio Conte early on, and eventually began writing songs of his own. As a poet, painter and lawyer as well as a musician, he first earned attention during the late '60s and early '70s as the creative force behind hits from Adriano Celentano and Patty Pravo. Conte began his solo career with a 1974 self-titled LP, with subsequent efforts like 1987's Aguaplano and 1990's Parole D'Amore Scritte a Macchina enjoying considerable success throughout Europe. 1998's Paolo Conte, a greatest-hits collection, was his first U.S. release. His compilation album is titled The Best of Paolo Conte.

Note (perfumery)
Notes in perfumery are descriptors of scents that can be sensed upon the application of a perfume. Notes are separated into three classes; top/head notes, middle/heart notes, and base notes; which denote groups of scents which can be sensed with respect to the time after the application of a perfume. These notes are created carefully with knowledge of the evaporation process and intended use of the perfume. The presence of one note may alter the perception of another - for instance, the presence of certain base or heart notes will alter the scent perceived when the top notes are strongest, and likewise the scent of base notes in the dry-down will often be altered depending on the smells of the heart notes.
The idea of notes is used primarily for the marketing of fine fragrances. The term is sometimes used by perfumers to describe approximately scents or the perfumery process to laypeople.
Volatility grouping
Fragrant materials are listed by Poucher in order of volatility and are grouped under respective evaporation coefficients (perfume notes) that range from 1 to 100.

Almost 50 years after his death at age 38, Mario Lanza continues to command a formidable, worldwide following. A brief scan of Youtube alone reveals nearly 20 pages of Lanza videos, from contributors of diverse nationalities. And I receive far more comments about him than any other singer that I've posted on my channel. Yet, Lanza has probably been the subject of more rumors and conjecture than any classically-trained singer in history. Some of this gossip, concerning both the singer's voice and private life, has wormed its way into the video commentary sections on Youtube: Lanza died penniless, Lanza was a drug addict, Lanza's discography was small, he never varied dynamics, his voice was weak and fickle, electronically manipulated, etc. To those of us who have tirelessly sought out biographical material on the singer and, more importantly, listened extensively to his records, such remarks are always irksome in their foolishness. At best, they demonstrate a casual carelessness on the commentator's part when it comes to details about the singer. At worst, they show an arrogant, almost impudent ignorance and refusal to familiarize oneself thoroughly with Lanza's legacy before posting critical observations.
One of the most insidious myths about Lanza is that he had a weak, small voice. Well, here is a recording that alone makes a total hash of this critique: 'Un di all'azzurro spazio' from Giordano's "Andrea Chenier", recorded at HOME in 1952 (Yes, that means made at Lanza's residence. One man, one mic. Unedited.). There are at least 6 extant Lanza recordings of the aria (I have 5 of them), made between 1944 and '52. And although I love his nuanced 1950 RCA effort, this one is undeniably thrilling. It is not difficult to believe that this poet was a soldier: Lanza's reading is virile, gutsy, and direct in its moral outrage; scathing in its condemnation of aristocratic indifference. The instrument's heft, sweep, and squillo are immediately apparent and make a powerful impression.
Small voice? I'm sorry, but the evidence simply shows otherwise. Recordings like this and eyewitness statements are available today to those who take the time to search for them, and they present a voice that is full, ample, and powerful. It's not a matter of speculation, but rather incontrovertible, ESTABLISHED FACT. Was it the largest voice in recorded history? No. Nor was it flawless. To those who would say that I'm just a rabid fan who believes Lanza could do no wrong, I'll point out that there are a number of his recordings that I'm not crazy about. There are even entire albums that I dislike, i.e. his 1959"Caruso Favorites" and remake of "The Student Prince". But he also made a great many magnificent, nonpareil recordings that have stood the test of time. And I daresay he has not only grabbed countless opera and song aficionados by the heartstrings, but also inspired more tributes from established singers, and more students in their quests for operatic careers than any other single artist (I know for certain that I wouldn't be singing if it weren't for Lanza). I realize fully that timbral, stylistic, and interpretive preferences vary from one individual to the next, and that Lanza won't be everyone's favorite tenor, as he is mine. That's as it should be; it lends the operatic community much-needed variety. However, I will quarrel with anyone who plays loose with the facts or denies Lanza his rightful place in the pantheon of the greats.

Daniela Nardi's Espresso Manifesto - The Songs of Paolo Conte marks the launch of her major world music project. It also marks a musical and personal milestone for Nardi, the award-winning multi-talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist.
Espresso Manifesto is a heartfelt tribute to Italy's legendary Paolo Conte, exploring a dozen of his classic songs. Nardi's distinctive readings capture Conte's passionate essence, while unearthing new layers of emotional content. Nardi sublimely expressive vocals are set in spare, earthy, jazzy instrumental arrangements. The result offers an evocative meeting of old-world romanticism and modernist cool. "I wanted to showcase the deep richness of the Italian Songbook which is comparable to the Brazilian songbook or even French Chansons. The Italian Songbook has so much to offer to world music. Italian music isn't just operatic arias and "O Sole Mio", Nardi says of her transition into singing Italian and choosing the material of Conte.
Charting on radio across North America with features on the prestigious KCRW's 'Café LA' with Tom Schnabel, PRI's The World (syndicated to BBC, NPR and CBC) and Montreal's Radio Canada, Nardi is well on her way to fulfilling her "manifesto" to bring the spirit of Italy to North America. Recent shows in Toronto and Montreal have been sold out and the band's debut in New York received rave reviews. Espresso Manifesto is living up to what the Montreal Journal calls a "veritable tour de force -- 4.5 out of 5 stars".
