In each chapter of Art Calls with Tracey Moffatt the well known visual artist takes us into the homes and studios of some of the world’s most interesting and edgy contemporary art world personalities via Skype and by telephone. On the end of the line is mostly visual artists, but an architect, a fashion designer, a writer and even a comedian also feature. All respond in delightful ways to Tracey’s good–humoured banter.

Art Calls with Tracey Moffatt was originally made in 2014 as an idea for two half hour television pilots. Heavily influenced by European 1920’s surrealist films, the show was made on a shoestring budget and produced in a suburban backyard studio in Ipswich Queensland.

Art Calls with Tracey Moffatt is currently showing as part of Tracey’s major art exhibition Spirited at QAG|GOMA in Brisbane Australia from October 25 2014 to February 8 2015.

Art Calls with Tracey Moffatt is available to view on abc.net.au/arts until January 31, 2015. Follow and share the series @ABCArts #artcalls

Art calls should go to production ASAP, We need regular informed, insightful and witty comment on contemporary Australian At and Tracey Moffat is the woman for the gig. Her questions and manner enabled the artists to relax and reveal profoundly fascinating ideas bout their work. That is because Tracey listens. She is an artful and kind interviewer. They trust her. I saw Art calls after it had been taken down from this web site. It was screened as part of Future Feminist Archive curated by Jacqueline Milner at Sydney College of the Arts Gallery University of Sydney. Bring her back on line and move her forward so we can see and hear more.

Tracey this series had me in stitches.....almost rolling off my chair one minute, next I found myself reminicing (is that how you spell the word) about trips taken to far off places and then OMG reliving the orphanage story ....all my own ...where our regular orphage border used to steal my toys and threatened to draw blood by pinching, if I told...... I had forgotten it and I am glad now, she got those toys. She needed them more than I did. This series is perfect for any audience that wants to see and feel the real people behind the art. I absolutely love the fact you have included a range of artforms and related occupations from a multicultural, nonsexist or agist perspective. Your commentary was great and I will be showing my Senior students these films. I know they will get great insight, enjoyment and knowledge from them. Thankyou for promoting a fairer world for all. You are amazing.....

I really enjoyed those chats - and thank you Tracey for including 3 WA artists; they are great Australian artists in their own right but we (WA) are sometimes forgotten in this whole art talk/acknowledgementthing, so it was just grand to see them included.
