The new school year is well and truly under way. The tears of first day and goodbye have been wiped away. The production line of school lunches is becoming streamlined and the mechanics of school drop off and pick up is sliding into auto mode. But before you can put your feet up to enjoy a quiet coffee, get ready to brace yourself for the flow of never ending arts and crafts that will be lovingly brought home every day, piling up on kitchen benches and taking over coveted wall space. A refrigerator door can only display so much and soon piles on kitchen bench tops can become mountains of arts and crafts. The best way to tackle the impending problem is to get organised right away.

In our house, we have a place to display work that is brought home and then we have a way to store the art work we decide to keep forever. We have two large pinup boards to display work for that week or that month. Then work that we decide to keep forever is photographed or scanned and turned into a digital photo book for that corresponding school year. In that photo book I add the professional school photos and any photos of friends and school based fun, so that it is a very special memento for the future.

But there are many ways to get organised; folders, binders, display frames, even an app for your phone - the most important thing is to be prepared right at the start of the year to eliminate any clutter potential and be armed with a strategy to preserve these very special memories and keepsakes.
