Thon Maker gets first start for Milwaukee, but Bucks feel the Heat
Australian rookie Thon Maker's first NBA start for Milwaukee has ended in a 109-97 loss to the Miami Heat.
The 19-year-old started alongside compatriot Matthew Dellavedova in Miami on Sunday (AEDT).
Forward Maker scored six points and had one rebound and a steal in his 18 minutes after being called up for Jabari Parker who was benched for breaking team rules.
Dellavedova returned to the starting line-up for the first time in 2017 after being eased in from the bench since working his way back from a hamstring injury suffered late last year.
The Boomers star had 15 points, two rebounds and seven assists in his 35 minutes.
In Boston, Damian Lillard had a three-point play with 47 seconds left in overtime and finished with 28 points to lift the Portland Trail Blazers to a 127-123 victory over the Celtics.
Later, Marcus Morris scored 25 points and tipped in the winning basket at the buzzer, leading the Detroit Pistons to a 113-112 victory over Washington.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Nic Batum made two clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Charlotte Hornets defeat the Brooklyn Nets 112-105.
