Hopes dim for finding missing Auckland woman alive
The chances of finding a missing Auckland woman alive are diminishing as a search enters the seventh day, police say.
Torbay resident Patricia Wearn, 73, went missing on Monday when she left her home in Caversham Dr to go for a regular walk.
North Shore police inspector Sunny Patel said searchers would continue to look for Wearn on Sunday, but the search would be reassessed on Monday.
"Sadly we have now well passed the survivability expectations for Mrs Wearn," Patel said.

"We are asking anyone who has been away on holiday and lives in the Torbay area to please search your property," he said.
Hundreds of people from police, LandSAR, Navy, Airforce and the Fire Service have been involved in a large-scale operation to find Wearn, but no sign has been found.
Patel said police have consulted extensively with medical experts who are trained in survival.
Wearn has alzheimer's and was likely to be confused and disorientated, police said.
Wearn's son Andy made a public appeal in a video message posted by the Waitemata Police Facebook page on January 20.
He urged residents of Torbay, Browns Bay and Long Bay to "check and re-check" their properties and businesses.
