From Uruguayan carnival dancers to stormtroopers (from a galaxy far, far away), the yearly Swanston St parade highlights Australia’s diversity in the most fun-filled, vibrant and inclusive of ways.

Thousands of Victorians are anticipated to flock to the city to watch the Australia Day parade, which immediately follows the official flag raising ceremony and will run from 11am until noon.

Visitors to the all-ages events are encouraged to wave their flags of choice, cheer on participants and embrace Australia’s multicultural identity.

AUSTRALIA: Dave Hughes Defends Vegans Following Australia Day Lamb Ad January 121:34

Dave Hughes was featured in a video published by the Alternative Meat Company, humorously defending vegans following the 2017 Australia Day Lamb ad. Hughes brought out his best meat-related puns in the spook ?address to the nation? to question whether the Australia Day and the essence of being an Australian needed to be linked irrevocably to eating meat. ?It doesn?t need to moo for you to be true blue,? said Hughes, who is a vegetarian.
