The mother of fatally injured toddler Mason Jet Lee and her partner are facing new child cruelty charges for allegedly failing to provide adequate medical assistance to the 21-month-old.

Paramedics found the boy at the Caboolture home of his mother Anne Maree Louise Lee's partner William Andrew O'Sullivan in the early hours of June 11.

The pair have already been charged with manslaughter, along with 17-year-old Ryan Robert Barry Hodson, who also lived at the home where Mason died.

Police will now allege his mother, 27-year-old Lee, and her partner, 36-year-old O'Sullivan, failed to provide adequate medical assistance to the boy between 23 December 2015 and 13 February 2016.

They have been charged with one count each of cruelty to children and are due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on February 6.

Mason had been vomiting for five days before his death and had widespread bruising.

Police alleged he had suffered traumatic injuries in the day before his death and ultimately died of peritonitis.

Peritonitis is usually the result of a fungal or bacterial infection caused by an abdominal injury or an underlying medical condition.

The toddler's death prompted an investigation into Queensland's child safety system.

Three child safety service centre staff were stood down and twelve others faced disciplinary action.
