Teenager spared jail over wild Yokine party, lawyer says she 'fell into the wrong crowd'

An 18-year-old woman has avoided a prison term for organising an out-of-control party in the Perth suburb of Yokine that was advertised on social media and required people to pay to attend.

Rebecca Ah Hong and an acquaintance hired a disc jockey and a professional photographer for the party at a house in the city's north in June last year.

Partygoers were charged a $10 entry fee, and up to 150 people attended.

Police were called and it was declared an "out-of-control gathering" about 9:30pm in the evening, with bottles thrown at police as they tried to get people to leave.

The Perth Magistrates Court was told there was going to be a second party a week later at a house in Mirabooka, but it was stopped when someone living at the property returned home and found a DJ setting up equipment in their backyard.

Ah Hong's acquaintance offered to pay to use the premises, but the resident told them to pack up and leave.

Ah Hong pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including organising a gathering that got out of control and trespass.

She also pleaded guilty to stealing a car which the court heard had been involved in three bag snatches in the carpark of Crown Casino.

Ah Hong's lawyer told court his client, who has a young child, had "fallen into the wrong crowd" at the time of the offences.

However, he said Ah Hong had now moved back in with her parents and they were supporting her.

Ah Hong was given a 12-month community-based order with a requirement she undertake programs and counselling.

She was also ordered to complete 50 hours of community service work.
