A motorist has been charged with manslaughter after a City of Perth truck driver who was hit by a ute in Northbridge on Monday morning died in hospital.

The 48 year-old truck driver from Nedlands died from his injuries in Royal Perth Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The ute had just left a nightclub when it crashed into the rubbish truck on Roe Street, hitting the driver while he was standing outside his truck.

It then hit a parked white van, forcing it to flip onto its side.

Police announced on Thursday afternoon they had charged the 20-year-old driver of the ute over the crash.

The Wilson man has been charged with manslaughter, failing to ensure assistance was provided to a victim after a traffic incident and being a novice driver exceeding zero blood alcohol content.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on February 2.
