Creating an Account
If you don't have a Facebook account, you can create one in a few steps:
  1. Go to www.facebook.com.
  2. If you see the signup form, fill out your name, email address or mobile phone number, password, date of birth and gender. If you don't see the form, click Sign Up, then fill out the form.
  3. Click Sign Up.
  4. To finish creating your account, you'll need to confirm your email or mobile phone number.
If you already have a Facebook account, you can log into your account by entering your email or mobile number and password and clicking Log In.
Note: you must be at least 13 years old to create a Facebook account.

To finish creating an account, you need to confirm that you own the email or mobile phone number that you used to create the account:
  • To confirm your mobile number, enter the code you get via text message (SMS) in the Confirm box that shows up when you log in. Didn't get the SMS?
  • To confirm your email, click or tap the link in the email you got when you created the account. Can't find the email?
Confirming your email or mobile number helps us know we're sending your account info to the right place.
Note: Please confirm your email or mobile number as soon as possible. You may not be able to use your account until you confirm your email or mobile number.

Adding a phone number to your account:
  • Helps keep your account secure
  • Makes it easier to connect with friends and family on Facebook
  • Makes it easier to regain access to your account if you have trouble logging in
If you see a number suggested for you when we ask you to add your phone number, it will only be added to your account if you choose to confirm and verify it. A suggested number may be based on:
  • Your phone or tablet
  • Your mobile operator
  • Contact info provided by others on Facebook
  • A number you entered previously but didn't confirm
Keep in mind that you can control who can see your number. Learn more in our Data Policy.

If you created a Facebook account with an email, we sent a confirmation link to that email. If you can't find your confirmation email:
  • Check your junk mail folder. If you're using Gmail, check your Social emails.
  • Make sure that you entered the correct email. If you entered the wrong email, you can change it and resend the email.
  • You can try creating your Facebook account with a mobile phone number instead of an email.
If you created an account with your mobile phone number and didn't get an SMS with a confirmation code, try these steps.

If you're creating a new Facebook account and didn't get the code to confirm your mobile phone number:
  1. Make sure that you entered the correct mobile number. Don't use any special characters (+ or -) or leading zeros. If you entered the wrong number, you can update it and resend the SMS.
  2. Try resending the SMS with the code. If you see a message that says you've reached the code limit, please wait a couple of days and try again.
  3. Try sending an SMS containing only "Fb" to 32665 or the alternate number for your country from the Shortcodes by country list below.
  4. In some countries, you may need to wait up to 12 hours to get the SMS. We're working with mobile carriers to resolve this issue.
  5. You can also try creating a Facebook account with your email instead of a mobile number.
If you added your mobile phone number to your existing Facebook account but didn't get the confirmation code, make sure that the mobile number is correct. If you entered the wrong number, you can update it and resend the SMS.
