This policy applies to Twitter’s paid advertising products, which are Tweets, trends and accounts.

What’s the policy?

Twitter prohibits the promotion of tobacco brands and the online and offline sale of tobacco and tobacco accessories globally.

What products or services are subject to this policy?

This policy applies, but is not limited, to:

  • Tobacco of any kind

  • Cigars, cigarettes and cigarillos

  • Tobacco manufacturers

  • Electronic cigarettes, even when marketed for smoking cessation

  • Pipes and rolling papers

  • Cigar bars and hookah lounges

What products or services are not subject to this policy?

This policy generally does not apply to:

  • Patches and gums used to aid the cessation of smoking addiction

  • Accessories not directly used for smoking, like ash trays and humidors

  • Establishments that permit smoking but do not directly promote it

  • News and information about tobacco products

  • Anti-smoking advice and information
