Is it wrong for a 7-year-old girl to perform like Taylor Swift?

A 7-year-old British girl is causing a stir online after appearing on the Philippine talent show Your Face Sounds Familiar.

The show features kids impersonating their favourite pop stars, and when Xia Vigor took the stage to mimic Taylor Swift she blew everyone away.

Xia, who is from Exeter in the UK, rocks the hair toss, she nails the facial expressions and her You Belong With Me act even includes an outfit change. A YouTube clip of her performance has gone gangbusters and clocked up more than 300 million views since being posted on 15 January.

It's not the first time Xia has been in the limelight. She also won a similar competition for signing Selena Gomez's hit track Love You Like A Love Song a few years ago.

The mini diva has thousands of followers on her social media accounts and is even a TV host in the Philippines. But while the younger has been praised for her performance (one commenter says: "she slays it as TS"), the video has also raised a few eyebrows.

British actress and Loose Women presenter Nadia Sawalha said that she was repulsed by the performance.

"Obviously she doesn't know, she's completely innocent, but for me those are sexualised moves she's been taught, she'd have had hours and hours of rehearsals with someone going 'no not like that, more like this' and I just think why? why so young?" she said.

But the young starlet's dad, British civil engineer Alan Vigor has hit back at claims the performance was over-sexualised, telling the Daily Mail that people in the Philippines see things differently.

"On the show next week, Xia is going to dress up as Axl Rose. It's like a pantomime. It's been taken out of context," he said.

"She's not going a friend's birthday party in high heels and lipstick. It's not like that. She would never dress up like that on a normal day."

He also said that Xia has already received offers from Hollywood and has been described as the next Shirley Temple.

"We are very proud of her achievements at such a young age. [Philippines TV network] ABS CBN producers have said that she is set to become a big star in the Philippines," he said.

"I'm the proudest dad of all."
