Govardhan Asrani born 1 January 1941 in Jaipur, India , popularly known simply as Asrani, is an actor in Indian films whose Bollywood career has spanned over 35 years. His wife Manju Bansal is an actress.
He was born in a middle class Sindhi family. His father migrated to Jaipur after the Partition of India and opened a shop selling carpets. He has four sisters and three brothers: two elder and one younger. Asrani was highly uninterested in business and very weak in mathematics. He completed his matriculation from St. Xaviers School and did his graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He simultaneously worked as a voice artist on All India Radio, Jaipur, to pay for his education. His ultimate aim was to become an actor.
He began to learn acting from Sahitya Kalbhai Thakkar from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, he traveled to Mumbai and began to seek opportunities to act. In 1963, Hrishikesh Mukherjee advised him to learn acting professionally.
In 1964 Asrani joined the Film Institute in Poona. He acted in four other movies, mainly as actor or supporting actor in Gujrati from 1967 to 1969 before landing his first Hindi movie role in Umang, a low-budget movie, which had Subhash Ghai and Paintal. In 1969, he was offered the role of Rajesh Khanna's friend in Aradhana, but Rajesh was more comfortable with an older person and preferred Sujit Kumar. His old advisor, Hrishikesh Mukherjee also passed him over for the movie Anand, giving the role to an older person, but gave Asrani a role in Bawarchi. This role set the tone for a number of supporting or comic roles like Abhimaan (supporting), Chala Murari Hero Banne (comedy), Chupke Chupke (comedy), Choti Si Baat (comedy) or his most remembered role, as the jailer in Sholay. He acted in Khoon Pasina, marking a serious role other than comedy. He was hugely talked about in the 1970s and is one of Amitabh Bachchan's close friends. In the 2007 Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding, Asrani and Prem Chopra were the only two of Amitabh's old friends invited.
Asrani has acted in over 300 films over the last 35 years and also in close to 150 Gujarati films.

Taqdeerwala is a Hindi Movies Full Movie in which Shri Bhramma is unhappy with Yamraj and his assistant, Chitragupt, as they have misplaced a book or prophecy called "Bhavishya Vani", and asks them to go down to Earth and find the book within 30 days or else they will lose their status in heaven and will be forced to live as mortals on Earth. The two descend to Earth, and find out that the book is in the possession of a man named Suraj, who is unwilling to give up the book as he has read the prophecy about his mother's dying. This refusal is catastrophic as Yamraj cannot plan anyone's death, and no one will be permitted to die unless and until the book comes in his possession. At the same time there is an evil man named Chota Ravan who is trying to possess the book in order to spread his control over Bombay.

Govardhan Asrani, popularly known simply as Asrani, is an Indian actor and director whose Bollywood career has spanned five decades. He has played in both Gujarati and Hindi films, and his roles include lead hero performances, character roles, comedic roles, as well as supporting parts.
Early life
Asrani was born in a middle class Hindu Sindhi family. His father migrated to Jaipur after the Partition of India and opened a shop selling carpets. He has four sisters and three brothers: two elder and one younger. Asrani was highly uninterested in business and very weak in mathematics. He completed his matriculation from St. Xaviers School and did his graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He simultaneously worked as a voice artist at All India Radio, Jaipur, to pay for his education. His ultimate aim was to become an actor.
He is married to actress Manju (nee Bansal), with whom he fell in love working together in films like Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar and Tapasya. In Aaj Ki Taza Khabar, Asrani played as Champak Boomia / Amit Desai and Manju played role of Kesari Desai and for this role Asrani won Filmfare Award for Best Comedian. Later the couple acted in Hum Nahin Sudhrenge, a home production directed by Asrani in 1980.

Govardhan Asrani born 1 January 1941 in Jaipur, India , popularly known simply as Asrani, is an actor in Indian films whose Bollywood career has spanned over 35 years. His wife Manju Bansal is an actress.
He was born in a middle class Sindhi family. His father migrated to Jaipur after the Partition of India and opened a shop selling carpets. He has four sisters and three brothers: two elder and one younger. Asrani was highly uninterested in business and very weak in mathematics. He completed his matriculation from St. Xaviers School and did his graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He simultaneously worked as a voice artist on All India Radio, Jaipur, to pay for his education. His ultimate aim was to become an actor.
He began to learn acting from Sahitya Kalbhai Thakkar from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, he traveled to Mumbai and began to seek opportunities to act. In 1963, Hrishikesh Mukherjee advised him to learn acting professionally.
In 1964 Asrani joined the Film Institute in Poona. He acted in four other movies, mainly as actor or supporting actor in Gujrati from 1967 to 1969 before landing his first Hindi movie role in Umang, a low-budget movie, which had Subhash Ghai and Paintal. In 1969, he was offered the role of Rajesh Khanna's friend in Aradhana, but Rajesh was more comfortable with an older person and preferred Sujit Kumar. His old advisor, Hrishikesh Mukherjee also passed him over for the movie Anand, giving the role to an older person, but gave Asrani a role in Bawarchi. This role set the tone for a number of supporting or comic roles like Abhimaan (supporting), Chala Murari Hero Banne (comedy), Chupke Chupke (comedy), Choti Si Baat (comedy) or his most remembered role, as the jailer in Sholay. He acted in Khoon Pasina, marking a serious role other than comedy. He was hugely talked about in the 1970s and is one of Amitabh Bachchan's close friends. In the 2007 Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding, Asrani and Prem Chopra were the only two of Amitabh's old friends invited.
Asrani has acted in over 300 films over the last 35 years and also in close to 150 Gujarati films.

Taqdeerwala is a Hindi Movies Full Movie in which Shri Bhramma is unhappy with Yamraj and his assistant, Chitragupt, as they have misplaced a book or prophecy called "Bhavishya Vani", and asks them to go down to Earth and find the book within 30 days or else they will lose their status in heaven and will be forced to live as mortals on Earth. The two descend to Earth, and find out that the book is in the possession of a man named Suraj, who is unwilling to give up the book as he has read the prophecy about his mother's dying. This refusal is catastrophic as Yamraj cannot plan anyone's death, and no one will be permitted to die unless and until the book comes in his possession. At the same time there is an evil man named Chota Ravan who is trying to possess the book in order to spread his control over Bombay.

Synopsis - Widowed Judge Kedarnath Sinha lives a comfortable lifestyle with two sons, CBI Inspector Vijay, and College-going Sonu. Vijay is aware of the terrible tragedy that marked his 5th birthday celebration, when the party was interrupted by a vengeful escaped convict Billa, who killed DCP Ravi Khanna, cut-off Kedarnath's right hand, & abducted, raped and brutally assaulted Sharda Khanna. Sonu does not come to know of this until well after his 25th birthday, when Kedarnath tells him that he is Sharda's and Billa's son. A shocked and devastated Sonu accepts this reality and leaves the Sinha household. Shortly thereafter, Sonu is wanted by the Police for helping dreaded killer, Kaalia, escape from prison. What Kedarnath and Vijay do not know is that Sonu helped Kaalia in order to reach Billa, but instead meets with Dagha, becomes his hit-man, and accepts a contract to kill Dagha's former associate, Shakaal, and retrieve a video-tape titled "Marte Dam Tak". What is in recorded in that video-tape is not the movie, but something that will change Sonu's life forever, and make him an enemy of the law, with Vijay hot on his pursuit.

The family's disrepute spreads to such an extent that no person wants to be employed as a cook in their home, ironically named Shanti Niwas (abode of peace). Then one day a young man named Raghu (Rajesh Khanna) offers to work as a cook, and is hired. Raghu, however, lives up to this challenge & becomes the apple in the eye of every inmate of Shanti Niwas. He even defuses the internal squabbles & re-unites the family. But is Raghu's slate clean, or is there more to his character?

Synopsis - Bombay-based Rohit is the only son of multi-millionaire widow of Shankar Dayal Walia. She would like to get him married, but Rohit is more interested in alcohol, dancing courtesans, and late nights out with his friends. Disappointed, his mom talks to him and asserts that he look after the family business and get married. This talk has considerable effect on Rohit and he decides to assist his mom run the business, so for starters he goes to picturesque Pallampur to supervise and assess the situation. Once there he meets with a stunningly beautiful young woman, Tania, the niece of Dr. Lall Jaiswal, and both fall in love with each other. Both plan to get married, however, they have an accident and end up getting hospitalized. When Rohit is discharged he finds out to his shock and disbelief that Tania has left Pallampur in the company of her dad. Efforts to locate her are in vain. When he returns to Bombay, he finds that his mother had picked Tania to get married to him. Thrilled both mother and son approach Tania's dad, Mahendra Pratap Oberoi, and soon Rohit and Tania get engaged. But there is something very wrong as Tania asserts that she does not know Rohit and is not interested in marrying him - for she has given her heart to a middle-class young man by the name of Sagar, who works as a garage mechanic. Rohit must now uncover the truth as to why Tania refuses to recognize him, leave alone marry him.

Govardhan Asrani born 1 January 1941 in Jaipur, India , popularly known simply as Asrani, is an actor in Indian films whose Bollywood career has spanned over 35 years. His wife Manju Bansal is an actress. He was born in a middle class Sindhi family. His father migrated to Jaipur after the Partition of India and opened a shop selling carpets. He has four sisters and three brothers: two elder and one younger. Asrani was highly uninterested in business and very weak in mathematics. He completed his matriculation from St. Xaviers School and did his graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He completed his matriculation from St. Xaviers School and did his graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He simultaneously worked as a voice artist on All India Radio, Jaipur, to pay for his education. His ultimate aim was to become an actor.
He began to learn acting from Sahitya Kalbhai Thakkar from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, he traveled to Mumbai and began to seek opportunities to act. In 1963, Hrishikesh Mukherjee advised him to learn acting professionally.
In 1964 Asrani joined the Film Institute in Poona. He acted in four other movies, mainly as actor or supporting actor in Gujrati from 1967 to 1969 before landing his first Hindi movie role in Umang, a low-budget movie, which had Subhash Ghai and Paintal. In 1969, he was offered the role of Rajesh Khanna's friend in Aradhana, but Rajesh was more comfortable with an older person and preferred Sujit Kumar. His old advisor, Hrishikesh Mukherjee also passed him over for the movie Anand, giving the role to an older person, but gave Asrani a role in Bawarchi. This role set the tone for a number of supporting or comic roles like Abhimaan (supporting), Chala Murari Hero Banne (comedy), Chupke Chupke (comedy), Choti Si Baat (comedy) or his most remembered role, as the jailer in Sholay. He acted in Khoon Pasina, marking a serious role other than comedy. He was hugely talked about in the 1970s and is one of Amitabh Bachchan's close friends. In the 2007 Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding, Asrani and Prem Chopra were the only two of Amitabh's old friends invited.
