He ran from the scene and tried and failed to enter a house on Ashmore Avenue.

A short time later he entered a second property on the same street and, armed with an axe, he stole a Ford Territory and drove off.

The 24-year-old then led police on a short pursuit before abandoning the Ford at the intersection of Wilfred and Ranford Roads.

He ran from the scene but was caught by police a short time later.
