Australia’s Indigenous culture is at once the oldest living culture in the world, and the driver of a dynamic contemporary modern arts movement in urban, regional and remote Australia.

Indigenous artists who live and work across South Australia practice diverse art forms including acrylic painting on canvas, ceramics, carvings, spinning, weaving and works on paper, photography and new media, together with song and dance.  Many artists work at Indigenous-owned community Art Centres, where senior people pass on cultural knowledge and artists of all generations engage in vibrant art-making.

We acknowledge the traditional Indigenous owners of this country, many Aboriginal nations who are the custodians of the land, river and sea.
