It uses a 10-foot user interface designed to be a media player for the living-room, using a remote control as the primary input device. Its graphical user interface (GUI) allows the user to easily browse and view videos, photos, podcasts, and music from a harddrive, optical disc, local network, and the internet using only a few buttons. Love Kodi but ....

The app isn't the same as the pure downloaded version. Some add-ons work in downloadable version but not in the Windows app. Might be how MS secures it? In either case, it's a fantastic product. I recommend just getting the download from the official site. Works better and upgrading is easy. The app auto-upgrades which is neat but maybe not the best if you use a bunch of add-ons that haven't kept pace with the base install of Kodi.

difficult user interface

Good start but not ready for publishing. User interface is jumpy and difficult to use with just a mouse. Playback of recorded tv is pixelated. configuration with mediaportal is iffy at best. doesn't seem to be a way to make settings persist, always goes back to allchannels. no way that I can find to have the tvguide sorted by channel name. Controls overlap one another and switch on mouse over so it's hard to navigate. Impossible on a tablet with only a touch screen. some screens leave you stranded, you need to press esc to get back to a previous screen and there is no esc touch spot. swiping right or left would be nice options. program had to be "end Tasked" quite a few times and blew up on its own often. I'll check back in a couple of months.

Works Flawlessly

Its easy to use and works on multiple devices. The plugins that you can get for it make it one of the best cable cutting programs around.

Great for casual use!

I was searching for a DVD-playing app since Microsoft no longer provides Windows Media Player, and the app Kodi has been working great! I have used it with an external Blu-ray player by LG, and I recommend it for casual use.

Just the Way I Like It

I'm so glad that they released a version in the windows app store because it makes it easier to update to app without constantly having to install the new version. Additionally, to those who do not like the new skin version, you can change the look of the app. Just go to settings to appearances and change skin to Confluence, which is the setup most Kodi users are familiar with. Great app as always. Love, love, love Kodi.

KODI at its best. Bear in mind this is still a beta

A very good iteration of a now very much tested and tried KODI. However, this particular version (17) does not support some of the usual features, namely install from zip. I'll give it a pass since it is a beta, hoping for some more feature friendly iterations in the coming days.

Horrible App

When you launch this app, it holds your system hostage and refuses to let you close it without indexing your photos, videos, and anything else on your hard drive. The designers removed the familiar minimize, up/down window, and close commands in the upper right corner so unless you search around (or use Task Manager) to find a way to close it, this nuisance will forever hold your computer hostage. Avoid this one at all costs!

Wont work

Shows Kodi basic screed with message add-ons inprocess. but never finishes just keeps going and finally says Kodi not responding. Never had this problem before when downloading directly fro kodi and not being redirected to a app store to download. Tried several times with same result.

i know its a beta but...

1st install didn't work, it shutdown and restarted my laptop twice causing a repair service to start and I was just trying to get my files to load. Now a few days I reinstalled and it loads my media but I cant do anything with it except play it. Cant reorder the file sources or select an option without it just fading away. I'm going back to the Jarvis version til thet do something that makes me actually believe is an xbmc or kodi product by more than name.
