A man on his way to the airport to pick up friends was dragged from his car by two offenders - one of whom was wearing a balaclava - during a wild car chase across several Perth suburbs last night.
The chase began in Gosnells at about 1.25am when police officers spotted a stolen black Volkswagen Polo with two men inside. The Volkswagen was stolen during a burglary in Ascot on Saturday.
Police pursued the car for several minutes before losing sight of it.
The car was spotted again by the police helicopter in Thornlie and was tracked through several suburbs, including Redcliffe and Belmont.
Police chased the car again before it came to a stop on Horrie Miller Drive near Perth Airport and was abandoned.
The two men waved down a white Honda CRV and forcibly removed the driver from his car.
The Honda CRV was then driven at high speed through the industrial area around the airport.
It's understood the man dragged from his car was on his way to the airport to collect some friends who had just flown in from China. He received minor injuries.
Police chased the Honda for several more minutes and it will be alleged it crossed onto the wrong side of Kewdale Road.
A stinger device was deployed at the intersection of Kewdale Road and Abernethy Roads in Welshpool, which forced the car to stop.
The two men, aged 19 and 26, were arrested at the scene a short time later.
A police spokesman confirmed one of the men was wearing a balaclava during the incidents.
The 26-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with a range of offences including steal motor vehicle and drive recklessly, aggravated reckless driving, no authority to drive, aggravated robbery and possess disguise to commit an offence.
The 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with steal motor vehicle and aggravated robbery.
They are due to face court on Friday.
