Disney officially introduces its new Polynesian princess, Moana

Elsa, you've had a good run. But now it's Moana's turn.

Earlier this week, Disney officially introduced its newest, post-Frozen princess at the company's D23 Expo in California - and she looks gloriously badass.

Execs unveiled new sketches and stills of Moana, the young Polynesian princess, at the event - a welcome shot of diversity in the company's traditional lineup of all-white heroines. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, who voices a demigod in the film named Maui, was also on-hand to help with the introduction.

Check out that power stance, that awesome hair. We love her already.

Directed by Disney veterans Ron Clements and John Musker - the guys behind The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Princess And The Frog - and co-written by New Zealand star Taika Waititi (Boy, What We Do In The Shadows), Moanna follows the "spirited teenager" as she sets sail for a mythical island with sidekicks in tow, a pig named Pua and rainbow-coloured rooster named Hei-Hei.

Moanna is due for release in November 2016.
