In 2014 I bought a new Volkswagen Golf 103 TSI Highline with the specified fuel consumption of 6.3-litre per 100km (on the urban cycle). So far I clocked 15,000km and for all 15k the average figure is 9.2L/100km. Yes, I know all about ADR 81/02. But in my case the fuel economy is 46 per cent higher than specified! I think that's misleading advertising. Do I have ground for complain to VW?

The fuel consumption labelling standard (ADR81/02) is based on a standard test. The label enables new car buyers to compare vehicles on a common basis. Real world fuel consumption is different and much more difficult to analyse. There are so many elements that can cause changes, driving style, temperature, atmosphere and tyre pressures just to mention a few. The best advice we can give you is to make your complaint official with VW customer service and have your dealer carry out fuel consumption testing. VW will have test procedures in place for the dealer to follow and to give you answers.
