A severe thunderstorm warning issued on Friday for Canberra has been cancelled, with damaging winds now expected to pass the capital by.
The Bureau of Meteorology put out the warning on Friday morning for Canberra, Goulburn and Nowra, as well as other parts of New South Wales, but revised its forecast about 1:30 pm.
Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding, were now expected to hit further across the border, with Tamworth, Gunnedah, Moree, Narrabri, Walgett and Dubbo all expected to be affected.
Last Friday, a freak windstorm took Canberrans by surprise, leaving homes damaged, trees felled and thousands without power.
