A maximum of 35 degrees is forecast for Brisbane on Saturday, but the top may be cooler if the change arrives in the morning.
The change will provide much welcome relief, with south-east Queenlanders expected to endure a sticky night on Friday.
Overnight temperatures in Brisbane aren't expected to drop to below 27, a degree cooler than the city's record for its highest January minimum temperature.
