Learning disability is a classification that includes several areas of functioning in which a person has difficulty learning in a typical manner, usually caused by an unknown factor or factors. Given the "difficulty learning in a typical manner", this does not exclude the ability to learn in a different manner. Therefore, some people can be more accurately described as having a "Learning Difference", thus avoiding any misconception of being disabled with a lack of ability to learn and possible negative stereotyping.
While learning disability, learning disorder and learning difficulty are often used interchangeably, they differ in many ways. Disorder refers to significant learning problems in an academic area. These problems, however, are not enough to warrant an official diagnosis. Learning disability on the other hand, is an official clinical diagnosis, whereby the individual meets certain criteria, as determined by a professional (psychologist, pediatrician, etc.). The difference is in degree, frequency, and intensity of reported symptoms and problems, and thus the two should not be confused. When the term "learning disorder" is used, it describes a group of disorders characterized by inadequate development of specific academic, language, and speech skills. Types of learning disorders include reading (dyslexia), mathematics (dyscalculia) and writing (dysgraphia).
Learning is the act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preferences and may involve synthesizing different types of information. The ability to learn is possessed by humans, animals, plants and some machines. Progress over time tends to follow a learning curve. It does not happen all at once, but builds upon and is shaped by previous knowledge. To that end, learning may be viewed as a process, rather than a collection of factual and procedural knowledge. Learning produces changes in the organism and the changes produced are relatively permanent.
Human learning may occur as part of education, personal development, schooling, or training. It may be goal-oriented and may be aided by motivation. The study of how learning occurs is part of educational psychology, neuropsychology, learning theory, and pedagogy. Learning may occur as a result of habituation or classical conditioning, seen in many animal species, or as a result of more complex activities such as play, seen only in relatively intelligent animals. Learning may occur consciously or without conscious awareness. Learning that an aversive event can't be avoided nor escaped is called learned helplessness. There is evidence for human behavioral learning prenatally, in which habituation has been observed as early as 32 weeks into gestation, indicating that the central nervous system is sufficiently developed and primed for learning and memory to occur very early on in development.

This video was extremely hard for me to make. There are no cuts in it. I was afraid that if I stopped I wouldn't get through it. After repeatedly meeting people facing similar challenges, I felt that I should publicly share my story in the hope of helping them realize that they're not alone, and that there are ways to cope.

I did this video as my entry into the youtube world because there are a lot of videos on Youtube of adults and reaserchers telling parents whats best for their struggling child and there didn't seem to be many videos of kids or teens sharing their opinion. So I thought it would benefit teens or kids with a learning disability or another mental problems that impact their learning to hear something from someone who had been down the hard road of school and offer some advice to help cope with it. I hope you enjoyed watching it and are comforted with this video to know that there is nothing wrong with them and ways to help make it through school. I also did this to raise awareness of the struggle our kids are going through with our current modern first world education. This is my first vid...

There is an increasing number of children who suffer from learning issues and disabilities due to the non-friendly, stressful and extremely competitive learning environment in the educational system starting from early childhood. It is not easy to identify these problems by schools and parents and therefore, it may become too late to help the child. Progressive Education has been busy installing appropriate measures to not only identify and remain a passive informer, but to also assist and support any child who is not performing, nor benefiting in the learning system. This identification process requires professional testing which we provide in-house. Thereafter, for further help the child can be taken to professional councilors by the parents. This will reduce, if not eliminate the ange...
