Lady Gaga's dangerous plans to sing on roof of Super Bowl stadium revealed

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime performance was never going to be beige.

But the Grammy winner's plans for the show-stopping National Football League final are said to be so extreme, both her team and the show's technicians are "worried".

Super Bowl Gaga wants to sing from the roof

In a logistically complex move, Lady Gaga wants to sing from the 79-metre-high roof of the NRG stadium for her Super Bowl half-time performance.

According to a Page Six report, Gaga wants to sing on the roof of the NRG Stadium in Houston when she performs on February 5.

"They're writing up multiple plans about how to safely get her on the roof, including potentially [cutting] a hole in the ceiling of the dome," one unnamed source told the publication.

NRG Stadium has a state-of-the-art, transparent, fabric roof unlike many other stadiums in America and abroad.

While halftime shows are always star-studded spectacles – Beyonce announced her Formation World Tour during her routine last year – Gaga wants to perform her risky feat live.

Organisers are reportedly considering airlifting the eccentric singer into the stadium, reportedly causing an insurance nightmare.

"Trying to figure out insurance for it is crazy," another source told Page Six.

Super Bowl halftime shows spark as much coverage as the football match itself. Beyonce, Coldplay and Bruno Mars performed last year, with Coldplay derided by viewers for being the weakest performers.

In 2015, Katy Perry's performance was punctuated by a giant tiger and back-up dancers dressed as sharks.

Gaga shared a photo of the temporary stage set up for her and her dancers to practise in her backyard on Tuesday while also revealing she was exercising every day with a personal trainer in preparation.

The singer has a penchant for death-defying shows. In October, she climbed onto the edge of a balcony at club the Bitter End in New York where she was performing her latest album Joanne.

Streets surrounding the venue reportedly had to be shut down as hundreds of fans clamoured below to get a glimpse of Gaga sitting on the ledge of the building.
