And Rose Byrne was the consummate professional as she filmed the live-action animated movie Peter Rabbit outdoors in Sydney during Thursday's downpour.

The 37-year-old appeared glum but stayed focused as cameras rolled for a scene shot on location in Centennial Park.

The setting has been constructed to look like an idyllic English countryside manor, with the actress playing the lead human character and the book's author, Bea.

The mother-of-one wore a wholesome ensemble of a pink floral dress with a matching cardigan as she sat in the lush garden.

She held onto one of numerous toy rabbits that were taped onto large rocks and featured motion capture active markers.

The New York-based star was spotted in black rain boots to guard against the muddy grass, holding a wooden basket of flowers as she appeared pensive.

She was shielded from the wet weather by the production crew, who held a large Bunnings umbrella over her head as she filmed her scenes.

The film features TV host James Corden in the voice role of Peter Rabbit plus Margot Robbie as a bunny, and is scheduled for release in March next year.
