Tasmanian island offering a couple a house and job to move

The opportunity of a lifetime to live and work for six months on a private island, away from civilisation, has been offered to lucky couples who can prove they are in an 'established relationship'. The illusive role of caretaker of Maatsuyker Island, 10 kilometres off the coast of Tasmania, has now become available. It is only accessible by helicopter. The only sign of human life on the island is a lighthouse built in 1891 (left), a meteorological observation office, ex-light keepers' house and a helipad. Despite this, the job has garnered the attention of hundreds of keen punters, ready to wave goodbye to the daily grind and disappear off the grid for the better part of a year.
