Uttarakhand or Uttaranchal is a region that is one of the most fond tourist haunts of India today. The reason is it has everything to fulfill the thirst for vacationing that a traveler carries in his heart. The forests, steep slopes, mountainous peaks pull the adventure seekers, nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts to the region. Uttarakhand falls to the North of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh with Nepal to its East and Tibet above it. If there is one thing you can say about Uttarakhand, it is that God was at his creative best in creating a magnificent countryside dotted with hills and mountains, gorges and ravines, undulating meadows and playfully winding rivers whose waters frolic and gambol on their way to the sea. Travel to this scenic destination is a journey of delight and sheer pleasure for the soul. It is veritably the Land of the Gods and the Switzerland of India.
The State has over 400 destinations to pick and choose from. If you like adventure sports, there are dozens of destinations for you. If you are religious, then your Chardham Yatra to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath starts and ends here. If you like peace and quiet, there are scores of quiet, secluded retreats where you can spend days communing with nature.
If you like ethnic diversity, there are flavors and colors of Kumaon and Garhwal to sample. With so many destinations available, it would be a difficult task to pack in as many as you can within the short time available to you. You could, however, start with the Valley of Flowers, an enchanting magical area that comes alive during spring, carpeting the land with 300 varieties of flowers and nature smiles benignly on you, letting you enjoy the colors and smells. Another equally alluring destination is Nainital, a quaintly charming British style resort built around the beautiful Naini Lake.
Uttarakhand offers Rishikesh and Haridwar for the spiritually inclined. Rishikesh is a center for yoga and is dotted with dozens of ashrams, a place redolent with spirituality at each turn. Haridwar is considered as one of the seven holiest of all places in India, a place where pilgrims bathe in the Ganges before undertaking their trip to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Gangotri is at a height of about 3048 meters and pilgrims pay their respects at the temple of Ganga Mata on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. From here you can go on to explore the Gaumukh glacier. Yamunotri is another holy destination at a height of 3293 meters with a temple dedicated to Yamuna Mata where pilgrims worship the Goddess and bathe in the hot springs. Kedarnath, at a height of 3584 meters is one of the sites of the 12 jyotirlingas with a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Badrinath in Chamoli at a height of 3133 meters is home to Lord Vishnu.
A visit to Uttarakhand would be incomplete without spending time at the Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest natural park, home to hundreds of species of birds, animals and plants. Jhirna is a popular bird watching spot in the sanctuary while Bijrani, a densely forested area is ideal to sight a tiger in natural settings. If you have had your fill of nature, then proceed to Dehradun, a modern hill station town with Ganga and Yamuna flowing to its east and west respectively. Dehradun offers the conveniences of city life and you can visit Sahastradhara springs and Tapkeshwar temple in the vicinity as also take a short trip to Rajaji National Park. Then you proceed to Mussoorie, another British hill station nestling in the foothills of the Shivalik and overlooking the Doon valley. If you love hill stations then you may want to explore Almora, Dharchula and Dhanaulti as well.
If it is adventure that lures you, Uttarakhand has plenty in store for you. You could go to Lansdowne, Pauri, Mori, Kalsi, Naukuchiata, Mori or Ramgarh from a dozen and kick-start your exploration of hills, valleys and forests or go white water rafting, paragliding or indulge yourself in mountain biking.

Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand (/ˌʊtəˈrɑːˌkʌnd/), formerly Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the Devbhumi (literally "Land of the Gods") due to the many Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty of the Himalayas, the Bhabar and the Terai. On 9 November 2000, this 27th state of the Republic of India was created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh. It borders Tibet on the north; the Mahakali Zone of the Far-Western Region, Nepal on the east; and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the west and Northwest as well as Haryana in the south western corner. The state is divided into two divisions, Garhwal and Kumaon, with a total of 13 districts. The interim capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, the largest city in the region, which is a railhead. The High Court of the state is in Nainital.

Narendra Modi
Narendra Damodardas Modi (Gujarati: [nəreːnd̪rə d̪ɑːmoːd̪ərəd̪ɑːs moːd̪iː], born 17 September 1950) is the 15th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since 26 May 2014. Modi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament (MP) from Varanasi. He led the BJP in the 2014 general election, which gave the party a majority in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian parliament) – a first for any party since 1984 – and was credited for 2014 BJP electoral victories in the states of Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
Since taking office as Prime Minister, Modi's administration has focused on reforming and modernising India's infrastructure and government, reducing bureaucracy, encouraging increased foreign direct investment, improving national standards of health and sanitation and improving foreign relations. Modi has been appreciated for starting initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission, Make in India and Digital India. Earlier, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi's economic policies (credited with encouraging economic growth in Gujarat) have been praised, although his administration has also been criticised for failing to significantly improve the human development in the state and failing to prevent the 2002 Gujarat riots. A Hindu nationalist and a former member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Modi remains a controversial figure domestically and internationally, despite his progressivism. Known for his tech savvy image, he is the second most followed politician on social media after U.S. President Barack Obama.

Dehradun
Dehradun /ˌdɛrəˈduːn/ is the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand in the northern part of India. Located in the Garhwal region, it lies 236 kilometres (147 mi) north of India's capital New Delhi and is one of the "Counter Magnets" of the National Capital Region (NCR) being developed as an alternative centre of growth to help ease the migration and population explosion in the Delhi metropolitan area. Dehradun is in the Doon Valley on the foothills of the Himalayas nestled between two of India's mightiest rivers — the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west. The city is famous for its picturesque landscape and slightly milder climate and provides a gateway to the surrounding region. It is well connected and in proximity to popular Himalayan tourist destinations such as Mussoorie, Nainital and Auli and the Hindu holy cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh along with the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit of Chota Char Dham.

The reason is it has everything to fulfill the thirst for vacationing that a traveler carries in his heart. The forests, steep slopes, mountainous peaks pull the adventure seekers, nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts to the region. The many beautiful hill stations of Uttarakhand are famous honeymooning spots while the Chota Chardham circuit too is nestled in this region drawing thousands of devout pilgrims
Uttarakhand falls to the North of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh with Nepal to its East and Tibet above it. If there is one thing you can say about Uttarakhand, it is that God was at his creative best in creating a magnificent countryside dotted with hills and mountains, gorges and ravines, undulating meadows and playfully winding rivers whose waters frolic and gambol on their way to the sea. Travel to this scenic destination is a journey of delight and sheer pleasure for the soul. It is veritably the Land of the Gods and the Switzerland of India.
The State has over 400 destinations to pick and choose from. If you like adventure sports, there are dozens of destinations for you. If you are religious, then your Chardham Yatra to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath starts and ends here. If you like peace and quiet, there are scores of quiet, secluded retreats where you can spend days communing with nature.
If you like ethnic diversity, there are flavors and colors of Kumaon and Garhwal to sample. With so many destinations available, it would be a difficult task to pack in as many as you can within the short time available to you. You could, however, start with the Valley of Flowers, an enchanting magical area that comes alive during spring, carpeting the land with 300 varieties of flowers and nature smiles benignly on you, letting you enjoy the colors and smells. Another equally alluring destination is Nainital, a quaintly charming British style resort built around the beautiful Naini Lake.
Uttarakhand offers Rishikesh and Haridwar for the spiritually inclined. Rishikesh is a center for yoga and is dotted with dozens of ashrams, a place redolent with spirituality at each turn. Haridwar is considered as one of the seven holiest of all places in India, a place where pilgrims bathe in the Ganges before undertaking their trip to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Gangotri is at a height of about 3048 meters and pilgrims pay their respects at the temple of Ganga Mata on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. From here you can go on to explore the Gaumukh glacier. Yamunotri is another holy destination at a height of 3293 meters with a temple dedicated to Yamuna Mata where pilgrims worship the Goddess and bathe in the hot springs. Kedarnath, at a height of 3584 meters is one of the sites of the 12 jyotirlingas with a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Badrinath in Chamoli at a height of 3133 meters is home to Lord Vishnu.
A visit to Uttarakhand would be incomplete without spending time at the Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest natural park, home to hundreds of species of birds, animals and plants. Jhirna is a popular bird watching spot in the sanctuary while Bijrani, a densely forested area is ideal to sight a tiger in natural settings. If you have had your fill of nature, then proceed to Dehradun, a modern hill station town with Ganga and Yamuna flowing to its east and west respectively. Dehradun offers the conveniences of city life and you can visit Sahastradhara springs and Tapkeshwar temple in the vicinity as also take a short trip to Rajaji National Park. Then you proceed to Mussoorie, another British hill station nestling in the foothills of the Shivalik and overlooking the Doon valley. If you love hill stations then you may want to explore Almora, Dharchula and Dhanaulti as well.
If it is adventure that lures you, Uttarakhand has plenty in store for you. Today, in this travel post, I would like to guide you to travel Sahastradhara सहश्त्रधारा which is situated about 11KM away from Dehradun city. A religious place yet full of fun and natural scenery. Sahastra in Sanskrit means - 1000 and Dhara means "Springs", so it is also commonly known as 1000s of fold natural springs.

How to Reach Sahastradhara ?
To go Sahashtradhara, first you have to be in Dehradun city. To reach Dehradun city, there are many ways- by plane, train or bus from New Delhi, Chandigarh and other major cities of northern India. Once you arrive city of Dehradun, take auto rickshaw (Tuk tuk) from any part of city and tell them to go Parade ground. You will get the Dehradun city bus service heading to Sahastradhara. That's the end point, all bus will get empty there. Do not worry, tons of tourist will be with you, in state as well as out state, along with few international tourist.
Cost of Bus Ticket - INR 17
Time of Travel - Approximately 40 minutes.
What are the things to do in Sahastradhara ?
1. Take shower in Sulphur water and also drink some water everyday till you stay there. It will clean your skin and remove all skin diseases and drinking will help you clean your stomach. But, I wont suggest for a couple visiting Sahastradhara should drink sulphur water, because it will smell for 2-3 days when you will burp :P . And kissing won't be so romantic :P

2. Visit Dronacharya Temple after taking shower in sulphur water and do worship there. You will love the Shiva ling and natural water springs falling on it from the terrace of the cave.
3. You can participate in natural water park with lots of fun thing like water slides , music, dance etc. You can also celebrate private birthday party etc there. The natural water park will cost you INR 300 (US$5).
4. There couple of natural caves go visit them, but I will suggest you not to take camera inside because springs water can destroy them. My camera has got problem due that and also don't forget to wear wear shoes.
5. You can ride Rope way and go to Sai Baba temple at top of the hill. Now here , saying you something secrete. :P Sahashtradhara tourism board will probably kick me :P there was no Sai temple before few years, one local restaurant owner told me, they built it recently at top hill so that they can earn money from rope way. When I tried to do hiking till temple on my foot, they did not allow me to go there. :(
6. Move around looking breathe taking green hills and do some gift shopping for your love ones, family as a memory of Sahastradhara.
