Have you noticed strawberries are berry cheap at the moment?
Punnets were selling for as low 80 cents in Coles supermarkets on Sunday, which is excellent news for fruit lovers, but not so great for farmers.
President of peak industry body Strawberries Australia, Sam Violi, said the cheap prices this year were "unusual" and were a result of a longer than usual Queensland season coupled with the start of the Western Australian season.
"We are having a clash of two states and a bit of an oversupply at the moment," he said.
So pick up some punnets and try these spins on the classic strawberries and cream combo, from a showstopper sponge cake to a cheat's millefeuille stack (using puff pastry sheets).
Try a coffee-free strawberry tiramisu, or channel the children's character Strawberry Shortcake with scone-like sandwiches.
Strawberry prices plummet
A punnet of strawberries is going for as little as 80 cents a punnet.
