What happens when you win lotto?

It's a dream for many but only a handful of lucky people will get to experience the process of what happens if you come across those winning numbers.

However the division one prize again went begging, with next Thursday's Powerball draw jackpotting to $55 million.

Those who believe Lotto is more than just luck may want to consider buying a ticket for the jackpot from Cloverdale.

The Perth southern suburb delivered the most division one winning Lotto tickets in 2016 with six winners taking home a combined $7 million.

Lotterywest Play Online produced five division one winners while Woodvale and Mandurah each had three.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said the most frequently drawn numbers for Saturday Lotto were 3 and 22, both drawn 14 times, while 5, 10, 11, 12, 18, 26 and 32 were each drawn 12 times.

So far in 2016, 87 West Australians have won division one prizes, sharing in nearly $140 million.

"The Megadraw creates lots of excitement amongst our local players and always proves popular. We expect about 1 million tickets to be sold in WA for the event. During our busiest hour tomorrow, around 600 tickets will be purchased every minute for the Megadraw," Ms Compagnone said.

WA players have until 7pm New Year's Eve to purchase their Megadraw tickets in-store.
