Description

Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness. The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from your messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor, a woman named Delilah, is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you've left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the world, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have. A Note: Firewatch is a video game about adults having adult conversations about adult things. If you plan on playing with a younger gamer, that might be good to know going in.IncludesA stunningly beautiful wilderness environment that expands as you explore. A tailor-made story: the choices you make shape the narrative and build relationships. An edge-of-your-seat mystery. Secrets and discoveries to be made over every hill.FeaturingLiving, breathing characters brought to life by Cissy Jones (The Walking Dead: Season 1) and Rich Sommer (Mad Men) A spectacular wilderness environment by Olly Moss (Illustrator) and Jane Ng (The Cave, Brutal Legend) A thrilling story and script by Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin (The Walking Dead: Season 1, Poker Night at the Inventory) A stirring original soundtrack by Chris Remo (Gone Home, Spacebase DF-9) Fluid first-person animation by James Benson (Ori & the Blind Forest) Gameplay scripting and design work by Patrick Ewing (Twitter) and Nels Anderson (Mark of the Ninja) Programming by Will Armstrong (Bioshock II) and Ben Burbank (Costume Quest 2, Spacebase DF-9)

Interesting

Uniquely made but still very artistic and beautiful. Easy, mellow game to kill time.

lackluster story & horrid gameplay

waste of time and money; essentially walking around for 4 hours almost constantly using the map to find ways around little rocks & the like (cheap way to extend game time). An extremely. basic point and click with zero puzzles or mystery to solve and choices in dialogue-rare as they are-don't make any significant. difference. There is no challenge, it's a first-person knockoff of telltale games mixed with the tomb raider reboot, with some pretty art and good voice overs. The gameplay and storyline fall completely flat, if I were the devs I would have given at least another year before release. Spoiler alert, nothing happens. Not a game, or even a complete story, I don't know what it is other than a complete waste, it doesn't deserve the great reviews that convinced me to play it. I have NEVER requested a refund for a game, but there is a first for everything, too bad it had to be this.

Idle Miss Delilah

Above all a unique experience that I found myself replaying to discover the mysteries and listen to different dialogue options. The characters are charming throughout their ups and downs, while the skylines are breathtaking. There are a few shortcomings (stuttering camera movement and an ending that doesn't quite click), but that doesn't take away from what this game stands for. Thanks for the memories, Delilah!

Captivating story | Immersive character | Suspenseful

The story is captivating and gets pretty deep as you go along. You have some influence to how things play out, but there is of course a main, general direction the story takes you. It feels as though you are acting out a suspense novel or movie. It isn't a difficult or fast paced game. You can actually complete it in a day if you have the time. That is my only real complaint, I liked it so much I just wish there were more. That being said, this is a fantastic, well made game with a great story. Highly recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale.

Pleasantly Suspenseful

Fully fleshed out characters really bring this charming little game to life. It's not particularly challenging, but the story is written well enough to give a general sense of dread and a yearning to discover what's REALLY going on in the Shoshone National Forest. Walked in not knowing what to expect, and I left pleasantly surprised.

It's like a movie

This game is amazing. It gives a great story, emotional voice acting, gorgeous graphics (kind of reminds me of TF2's graphics), and it gives an overall good experience. You can beat this game in one sitting though but like I said in the title it's like a movie. So you must pick this game up if you're looking for a good experience. 👍

underwhelming

the game is beautifully designed and I liked being able to walk around and explore the park. the storyline is interesting, but the game was not challenging. for the most part, the game tells you what to do when you click on things or where to go. I was hoping for more difficult puzzles.

Amazing

Great story driven game that keeps you guessing until the end. Worth every penny of the $10 sale price, but slightly off controls and a complete experience at the 4.5 hour mark make this a meh choice for $20. Keep Firewatch in your mind and grab it the moment it goes on sale again.

What a pleasure

From five minutes in, right until the credits rolled, i was hooked. The story plays out so naturally that it felt almost like i had been there before. I had joked like that, felt speechless like that, and even felt lost like that before. The environment was beautiful, and felt alive because of the attention paid to the little things. I am looking forward to another playthrough with commentary from the devs, not only to hear a bit of what they were thinking, but to spend just a bit more time out there in the woods.

Fantastic

What a game! Not the fastest paced game but the story and dialouge are amzingly captivating. Very unique and just gorgeous. I got the game during a sale but I wouldnt mind paying the full price because its easy to tell that a lot care and effort went into making it great. I do wish the game was longer and a bit scarier but its still a five star game to me.
