Oregon (i/ˈɔːrᵻɡən/ AWR-ə-gən) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Oregon is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Washington, on the south by California, on the east by Idaho, and on the southeast by Nevada. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary, and the Snake River delineates much of the eastern boundary. The parallel 42° north delineates the southern boundary with California and Nevada. It is one of only three states of the contiguous United States to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean, and the proximity to the ocean heavily influences the state's mild winter climate, despite the latitude.
Oregon was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before Western traders, explorers, and settlers arrived. An autonomous government was formed in the Oregon Country in 1843, the Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859. Today, at 98,000 square miles, Oregon is the ninth largest and, with a population of 4 million, 26th most populous U.S. state. The capital of Oregon is Salem, the second most populous of its cities, with 160,614 residents (2013 estimate). With 609,456 residents (2013 estimate), Portland is the largest city in Oregon and ranks 29th in the U.S. Its metro population of 2,314,554 (2013 estimate) is 24th. The Willamette Valley in western Oregon is the state's most densely populated area, home to eight of the ten most populous cities.
College football is American football played by teams of student athletes fielded by American universities, colleges, and military academies, or Canadian football played by teams of student athletes fielded by Canadian universities. It was through college football play that American football rules first gained popularity in the United States. No minor league farm organizations exist in American football. Therefore, college football is generally considered to be the second tier of American football in the United States; one step ahead of high school competition, and one step below professional competition. It is in college football where a player's performance directly impacts his chances of playing professional football. The best collegiate players will typically declare for the professional draft after 3–4 years of collegiate competition; with the NFL holding its annual draft every spring. 255 players are selected annually. Those not selected can still attempt to land an NFL roster spot as an undrafted free agent.
Eastern Washington is the portion of the US state of Washington east of the Cascade Range. The region contains the city of Spokane (the second largest city in the state), the Tri-Cities, the Columbia River and the Grand Coulee Dam, the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and the fertile farmlands of the Yakima Valley and the Palouse. Unlike in Western Washington, the climate is dry, including some nearly desert environments.
There have been sporadic movements to create a 51st state out of Eastern Washington by splitting the current state down the Cascades, but proposals have rarely progressed out of the state legislature's committees. Recent proposals were made in 1996, 1999, and 2005. Proposed names for the new state have included Lincoln, and Columbia, or simply Eastern Washington. Many of these proposals were to include the Idaho Panhandle. See: State of Lincoln for more information.
Eastern Washington tends to vote Republican, whereas Western Washington usually supports the Democrats.

Deroll Adams. When I was 18/19, Deroll Adams was already present at the Antwerp (Belgium) music scene. I had the privilege to see him perform in the Sportpaleis during a concert by Donovan. Both Donovan and Deroll were good friends, so that why Deroll was the opening for that concert. Later I've seen him at the free podium at a café in Antwerpen. As far as I know his history, I believe Deroll was hiding from going to Vietnam. I hear a kind of longing for home (nostalgia) in his songs. Much later, must be 10 years ago without knowing I got friends with his brother in law. As a matter of fact Deroll married a Belgian lady of jewish origin, Levy.

After 4, unbelievable seasons at Eastern Washington, Vernon Adams made the decision to leave EWU as a graduate transfer and fight for the starting spot on the University of Oregon's football team. After passing a math class and showing up to camp 5 days late, Adams won the starting job. Not only did winning the job mean continuing Oregon's success, but filling the shoes of 2014-15 Heisman winner, Marcus Mariota. In anticipation of this game, writers were talking about a game where the total points would exceed that of an average basketball game. We didn't quite get that far but there were times it seemed that would compete with the length of a cricket match! TCU was injured, had depth problems and was playing with their 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks. Oregon had a healthy Vernon Adams at quarterback, and he was dynamite all season when healthy. The game lived up to its top billing but just not in the manner that we thought. Sit back, put your seat belt on and enjoy the 23rd Annual Alamo Bowl!
