Things went from bad to worse for the Canberra Capitals on Friday night when they were thrashed 93-60 by the Townsville Fire in Queensland.
The Capitals simply had no answer for former Canberra player Suzy Batkovic who finished with 19 points, but it was another poor night shooting (23/77) which proved the difference.
Townville dominated Canberra in every statistic shooting 39/83 from the field which included 8/20 three-pointers.
Lauren Mansfield toiled hard in a 16-point effort, while Mikaela Ruef was the best for Capitals with 13 points and three rebounds.
Canberra center Marianna Tolo had an uncharacteristically quiet night shooting 3/14 for just seven points during her 27:19 minutes on court.
The loss marks four on the bounce for Paul Goriss' side who will need to dramatically turn things around before they face a red-hot Sydney Flames on Sunday.
Goriss must turn the tide quickly if the Capitals are any chance of making the playoffs with only nine games remaining in the WNBL season.
