What do you buy yourself when you're a Big Four bank treasurer with a penchant for the fairway? Why – you're very own golf course, of course.

That at least is the case for Westpac treasurer Curt Zuber, who now finds himself the proud owner of 27 acres of manicured fairways and greens – and a hefty swathe of sup-tropical rainforest in the Byron Bay hinterland.

The nine-hole, 31-par Teven Valley Golf Course has been listed for sale for over a year with an asking price of $2 million. It comes with its own pro shop, a liquor licence and development application approval for the construction of five 'boutique holiday cabins'. So, you know, there's investment potential.

According to the website of the "Royal Teven" – as locals apparently know it – the course is set "in a breathtaking valley amongst meandering creeks and remnant rainforest".

The purchase isn't expected to make too much of a dint in Zuber's finances. He made headlines when his take home pay doubled to $6.7 million. That's whole a lot of Titleist.

Seriously? Who buys a golf course? Other than Donald Trump ...
