In the end it was a solid performance from Australia, both with the bat and ball. They had some periods where they struggled, but ultimately they recovered in both innings. Pakistan will be disappointed that they couldn't maintain the pressure on Australia when they found themselves on top.
That's all from me, thanks for joining me tonight. Make sure you stick around for Andrew Wu's post-game coverage of that match.
Mohammad Hafeez speaks of his team's failure to reach their target of 300 with the bat, especially after being in such a strong position after 30 overs. He also speaks of his team's inability to maintain the pressure with the ball after Amir and Khan's opening spell. He is looking forward to a spinning deck in Sydney on Sunday and is confident that his team can bounce back.
Unsurprisingly, Steve Smith is the Man of the Match. He's happy with his team's bowling effort and the strong run chase. He praises Handscomb for his solid innings, after those early wobbles. Tubby asked him about the headband and as many suspected, it is a headband on loan from Adam Zampa. Smith says his hair was just getting a bit long and he needed something to keep it out of his eyes. He suspects it could be back for Sunday. He is confident that Australia will be able to head to Sydney and wrap up this series.
Pakistan had periods of dominance, but they just couldn't maintain it for the full 100 overs. They were 30 or 40 runs short with the bat and couldn't maintain the intensity of Amir and Khan in those first 15 overs.
Aussies very good today. Impressive win. Pakistan missed opportunities with both bat and ball. @wwos

Head ends it
Head finishes this for Australia with a lovely straight drive that goes for four. He finishes with 23 while Smith hits 108 not out off 104 balls.

7 overs to go and Australia requires 13 to win. It has been a good little cameo from Travis Head, 16 off 18 and he has helped finish off this run chase.
Back to topPlenty is being made on social media and in the Channel 9 commentary box of the head band Smith has been wearing under his helmet throughout today's innings. It is the first time anyone has noticed Smith wear such an accessory.

Century for Steve Smith
Smith raises his bat for the second time today and this time he shows some emotion. It's been a brilliant captain's knock. He entered the fray during a very challenging period of this match and has survived right through to the end.
YOU BEAUTY! An outstanding knock from the skipper, bringing up his 8th ODI hundred from 97 balls! #AUSvPAK pic.twitter.com/TaNVYC1XoP

With ten overs to go, Australia are 3/233, requiring a further 31 runs off the last 60 balls.
Handscomb out of luck
Peter Handscomb has finally run out of lives, falling for a solid 82 off 84 balls. He was beat for pace and bounce by a short ball and the ball caught the glove as he attempted to hook it. It looped up in the air and Rizwan took a comfortable catch. That knock surpassed Handscomb's List A high score of 72 and despite a lot of luck, it was a solid innings and exactly what Australia required during those middle overs. He was able to knock the ball around, picking up singles and twos against the Pakistan spinners and it set up Australia for their imminent victory.
Travis Head the new man in.
OUT! Handscomb's terrific debut knock comes to an end on 82 with Hasan taking the wicket. Australia 3-228 in the 40th over #AUSvPAK

Mohammad Amir is back into the attack and Smith dispatches the first ball to the boundary. He moves to 93 and Australia require 40 to win.
Back to topMore luck for Handscomb
Another bout of luck for Peter Handscomb. He gets an inside edge that misses the stumps and goes for four. Very next ball, he gets another inside edge, this one a true edge, but doesn't carry to the keeper. They say good things come in threes and Handscomb delivers with a third inside edge, this one goes for four. He then follows up all of this with a slice that beats the slips and goes for four in the third man region.
Suddenly Handscomb is on 80 off 81.
200 up for Australia
A four for Smith brings the 200 up for Australia. After 37 overs, Australia require 57 off 78 balls. Smith is on 88, Handscomb 65, Australia 2/207.
150 partnership is now up for Smith and Handscomb. This pair has really taken the game away from Pakistan. Looking back, that no ball when Handscomb was on 0 was a major turning point in this game.
Touch of luck for Handscomb now, because he hasn't already had enough tonight. He top edges a short ball and it flies over the keepers head for four. Just how many lives left does he have tonight?
Smith plays yet another glorious cover drive. Khan pitches the ball up just a little bit and Smith manages to thread the needle between mid off and extra cover.
Back to topSmith starting to open up now, seven off that last over and he moves to 73. Australia now need 87 off 96 balls and Hafeez has made a bowling change. Junaid Khan has been handed the ball and he'll be looking to bowl as well as he did earlier in the innings.
In that last over Steve Smith superassed 3000 ODI runs. He did so in just 79 innings, the fastest Australian to reach that milestone.
Steve Smith has become the fastest Australian to 3000 ODI runs, reaching there in 79 inns and beating Michael Bevan and George Bailey (80).

Four more for Smith, a cross bat slog across the line and he hits it through square leg. Australia just starting to ramp up the scoring a touch. It could be time for Hafeez to hand the ball back to his quicks. It's now time for a refreshment, Australia are 2/170 off 33, 94 required.
50 on debut for Peter Handscomb
After a very shaky start, Peter Handscomb has battled through and notched the first half century of his ODI career. With 18 overs remaining, Australia are 2/162 and require 102 runs to win.
FIFTY! You beauty @phandscomb54, an ODI half century on debut!

150 for Australia
A single to Handscomb brings up the 150 for Australia in the 31st over. He then follows it up later in the over with just his second boundary of the match as he moves to 47. 109 now required off the final 19 overs.
