I'm Converting to Judaism — and My Christian Mom Is Bummed
My dad is Jewish and my mom is Christian. I was raised both. I recently got engaged to a Jewish guy and am beginning the conversion process. My parents have shown me a lot of support, and I do believe they are happy for me. But I can tell that underneath my mom feels a little bit like she is losing me, or she lost.
The thing is, I am their only child. There’s nobody else to keep her Easter and Christmas traditions, so this is a big loss for her. Seesaw, I am not going to observe Christian holidays in my home, but is there anything else I can do to placate her worries now or honor her in the future?
