Empowering Pediatric Advocates
In support of the Academy's efforts to advocate for the health and well-being of all children, the Department of Community, Chapter and State Affairs works to:
  • Implement AAP policy at the state and local levels
  • Foster pediatrician involvement in their communities
  • Develop and sustain strong chapters and districts
  • Influence state level policy related to child health and pediatric practice
  • Build Quality Improvement capacity among chapters

The programs, services, and technical assistance needed to achieve this work are coordinated by:

Division of Chapter and District Relations

We provide chapter management tools and leadership consultation to chapters and districts. Programs supported by the division include:

Division of Chapter Quality Improvement Initiatives

This division facilitates and supports chapter quality improvement projects, including Chapter Quality Network (CQN) learning collaboratives.

Division of Community-based Initiatives

The AAP Division of Community-based Initiatives raises awareness of community pediatrics and the social determinants of health and supports pediatricians and child health professionals to partner with the community to improve child health.

Division of State Government Affairs

The Division of State Government Affairs provides consultation and technical assistance to chapters seeking to influence state government policy.
