Sailing comprises wind propulsion of a craft by means of sails and steering it over water, ice or land, depending on the type of craft. A sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails by adjusting their angle with respect to the moving sailing craft and sometimes by adjusting the sail area. The force transmitted from the sails is resisted by forces from the hull, keel, and rudder of a sailing craft, by forces from skate runners for an iceboat, and by forces from wheels for a land sailing craft to allow steering a course on a point of sail with respect to the true wind.
While there are still some places in the world where sail-powered passenger, fishing and trading vessels are used, these craft have become rarer as internal combustion engines have become economically viable in even the poorest and most remote areas. In most countries sailing is enjoyed as a recreational activity or as a sport. Recreational sailing or yachting can be divided into racing and cruising. Cruising can include extended offshore and ocean-crossing trips, coastal sailing within sight of land, and daysailing.
Roderick David "Rod" Stewart, CBE (born 10 January 1945) is a British rock singer-songwriter. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide.
He has had six consecutive number one albums in the UK, and his tally of 62 UK hit singles includes 31 that reached the top 10, six of which gained the number one position. He has had 16 top ten singles in the US, with four reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2007, he received a CBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music.
With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and then with Faces, though his music career had begun in 1962 when he took up busking with a harmonica. In October 1963 he joined the Dimensions as a harmonica player and part-time vocalist, then in 1964 he joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars. Later, in August 1964, he also signed a solo contract, releasing his first solo single, "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", in October of the same year. He maintained a solo career alongside a group career, releasing his debut solo album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down (US: The Rod Stewart Album), in 1969. His early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music and R&B. His aggressive blues work with The Jeff Beck Group and the Faces influenced heavy metal genres. From the late 1970s through the 1990s, Stewart's music often took on a new wave or soft rock/middle-of-the-road quality, and in the early 2000s he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.

Girls' Generation (Hangul: 소녀시대; So Nyeo Si Dae), also known as SNSD, is a South Korean girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment. The group is composed of eight (formerly nine) members: Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun. Girls' Generation officially debuted on August 5, 2007 with its debut single "Into the New World" and subsequently gained some attention with their self-titled debut album. However, it was not until 2009 that they rose to prominence with the single "Gee", which claimed the top spot on KBS's Music Bank for a record-breaking nine consecutive weeks and was named the most popular song of the 2000s decade by Melon. The group solidified their place in the South Korean music industry with follow-up singles "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)", "Oh!", and "Run Devil Run" from late 2009 to early 2010.
In mid-2010, the group signed with Nayutawave Records (present-day EMI Records Japan) to embark into the Japanese music scene. In April 2011, Girls' Generation's Japanese self-titled debut album was released, which peaked atop the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart and became the first album by a South Korean girl group to achieve a double Platinum certification by the RIAJ. The group returned to the South Korean music scene in October 2011 with The Boys, which has sold over 457,000 copies in South Korea, becoming the best-selling album in the Gaon chart history since its launch in 2010. During this time, the group also expanded their endeavor to the United States by signing with Interscope Records. In 2013, Girls' Generation's fourth Korean studio album titled I Got a Boy was released. The title track was subjected to major attention from western media after it was awarded Video of the Year at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards.
We're so close to home! (yet still so far). Rarotonga - Cook Islands is a hot spot for the people mostly of New Zealand to visit, when they're in need of a little escape... and we can see why. The unprotected harbour wasn't too flash, so we spent most of our time exploring land instead. Also, meet our pal Julian! Here to help with all things SLV for a month or two. Yep. Just me and the girls. Whole lotta talking going on... also some amazing meals and I hadn't seen so much laughing on La Vagabonde probably ever. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and we say goodbye to the talkative chefs and hello to some old friends. Cheers, Boom Sizzle Larm. Sailing 1,500 miles from Cocos Keeling we make landfall in the remote, exotic paradise that is CHAGOS!!! We quickly discover that the entire atoll is completely deserted and we have the whole place to ourselves. About a dozen islands at our disposal! We cross through the shallow pass into the protected lagoon and begin exploring. We discover a wrecked catamaran on the beach and have some wicked-cool walks in the jungle where we discover all sorts of cool native wildlife including massive coconut crabs. This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful pe...
Northern California has a storied, 500-year history of sailing. But despite this rich heritage, scientists and boat designers continue to learn more each day about what makes a sail boat move. Contrary to what you might expect, the physics of sailing still present some mysteries to modern sailors.

I am sailing, I am sailing...
Home again across the sea
I am sailing,
Stormy waters
To be near you, to be free
I am flying
I am flying
Like a bird
Across the sky
I am flying
Passsing high clouds
To be with you, to be free...
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Through the dark night...
Far away
I am dying
Forever trying
To be with you, Who can say...
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Through the dark night...
Far away...
I am dying...
Forever trying.
To be with you, Who can say...
We are sailing
We are sailing
Home again
Across the Sea
We are sailing
Stormy Waters
To be near you, to be free
We are sailing,
We are sailing...
Home again, across the sea
We are sailing, Stormy Waters (Stormy Waters)
To be near you, to be free
Oh lord to be near you, to be free
