The story of Rygar begins with the Island of Argus being plagued by evil Titans. Armageddon has spread over the land, creating chaos as volcanoes, earthquakes, and monsters ravage the countryside. In mankind?s darkest hour, a hero rises from the ashes to defeat the Titans, rescue the princess and restore order to the land. The player will become Rygar and his legendary adventure will begin.
The actions of Rygar rely heavily on the use of his almighty Diskarmor, the hero?s weapon of choice in the game. The yo-yo like Diskarmor is one of the most important elements of the game. Created by gods, the Diskarmor is not just any weapon, it is an essential survival tool and divine instrument for the brave hero. The spiked razor shield will be used for attack, defense, and transportation.

Single-segment speed run by Darkwing Duck.
Author's comments:
To begin with, this run wouldn't have had the time it has without the exteme amount of corroboration and competition this game has had, with Feasel, Unfy and others that slip my mind putting in a lot of time to finding out the mechanics of this game and constantly finding new strategies and lowering times. A sub 23 minute time was unthinkable when we picked up this game.
This run uses the same route as the previous run. It just optimizes it up the wazoo. There's really no section where there wasn't an improvement of some kind. One of the biggest factors was figuring out attack power in this game, which is the simple equation of tone divided by eight rounded down. This made preparation for the first boss, Eruga, finite and thus repeatable. Being at 48 is required to kill Eruga optimally.
There are no major mistakes in the run. I was surprised I didn't enter the doorway in Lapis because I jumped very early to dodge an enemy. The expectation of entering the unnecessary door flustered me, and I waste a second or two on the grappling hook.
I was a little unsure of my total mind points after the grind, so I went into the menu to check. Little time loss, though I lose a bit of time collecting the final necessary mind point out of paranoia I wouldn't get another one later.
This game is quite bugged graphically, and enemies can be spawned and despawned to one's advantage. It's used for the grind, in Eruga's forest, and in the sky castle.
Final Note: Jeanette was the lucky Chipette on screen when I got this run.

Released in July 1987, Rygar is the story of a warrior from Argus named Rygar, who has been brought back from the dead to defeat the evil Ligar, open the Door of Peace, and restore tranquility to Argool. The game was one of the first to bring RPG elements into a more action-oriented game, but is now probably best known for its awful translation and frisbee-like main weapon (which is actually a shield).

Rygar
Rygar is a video game created by Tecmo in 1986 and originally released for arcades in Japan as Warrior of Argus (アルゴスの戦士, Arugosu no Senshi). It is a sidescrolling platform game where the player assumes the role as the "Legendary Warrior", battling through a hostile landscape. The main feature of gameplay is using a weapon called the "Diskarmor", a shield with a long chain attached to it.
Plot
The arcade game begins with the following introduction:
4.5 billion years have passed since Earth's creation. Many dominators have ruled in all their glory, but time was their greatest enemy and it defeated their reign. And now a new dominator's reign begins...
Information gleaned from console manuals reveals that the evil being Ligar has taken over the land of Argool, and Rygar, a dead warrior who has risen from his grave, must use his Diskarmor, along with a variety of other weapons, to stop him. In console versions clues and limited dialogue are given in the form of large, sage-like men encountered in stone green temples throughout the game.

Game Grumps is a Let's Play webseries starring animator Arin Hanson and musician Leigh Daniel Avidan, also known as "Danny Sexbang," from the musical comedy duo Ninja Sex Party. The show was created on July 10, 2012 by Hanson and comedic video game critic Jon "JonTron" Jafari. Jafari left the show in June 2013 to focus on his primary YouTube channel JonTron, and was subsequently replaced by Avidan. The channel also expanded to include new hosts in spin-offs: animator Ross O'Donovan, series editor Barry Kramer, and Suzy "Mortemer" Berhow, the group's manager and Hanson's wife. Author's comments: To begin with, this run wouldn't have had the time it has without the exteme amount of corroboration and competition this game has had, with Feasel, Unfy and others that slip my mind putting in a lot of time to finding out the mechanics of this game and constantly finding new strategies and lowering times. A sub 23 minute time was unthinkable when we picked up this game. This run uses the same route as the previous run. It just optimizes it up the wazoo. There's really no section where there wasn't an improvement of some kind. To begin with, this run wouldn't have had the time it has without the exteme amount of corroboration and competition this game has had, with Feasel, Unfy and others that slip my mind putting in a lot of time to finding out the mechanics of this game and constantly finding new strategies and lowering times. A sub 23 minute time was unthinkable when we picked up this game.
This run uses the same route as the previous run. It just optimizes it up the wazoo. There's really no section where there wasn't an improvement of some kind. One of the biggest factors was figuring out attack power in this game, which is the simple equation of tone divided by eight rounded down. This made preparation for the first boss, Eruga, finite and thus repeatable. Being at 48 is required to kill Eruga optimally.
There are no major mistakes in the run. I was surprised I didn't enter the doorway in Lapis because I jumped very early to dodge an enemy. The expectation of entering the unnecessary door flustered me, and I waste a second or two on the grappling hook.
I was a little unsure of my total mind points after the grind, so I went into the menu to check. Little time loss, though I lose a bit of time collecting the final necessary mind point out of paranoia I wouldn't get another one later.
This game is quite bugged graphically, and enemies can be spawned and despawned to one's advantage. It's used for the grind, in Eruga's forest, and in the sky castle.
Final Note: Jeanette was the lucky Chipette on screen when I got this run.
