Jeff Judkins

Jeff Reed Judkins (born March 23, 1956) is a retired American professional basketball player and current head coach of the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars women's basketball team, a position he has held since summer 2001 after serving as their assistant coach in 2000–01. A 6'6", 185-lb shooting guard, he played college basketball at the University of Utah from 1974 to 1978 and had a career in the NBA from 1978 to 1983. He was all-state in football, baseball as well as basketball.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Judkins played basketball at Highland High School, where his jersey no. 34 was retired in February 2006. After high school, he played with the University of Utah under Utes head coach Jerry Pimm.

Judkins was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 8th pick in the 2nd round of the 1978 NBA Draft (he was Boston's second pick in that draft after Hall-of-Famer Larry Bird.) As well as playing for the Celtics, Judkins spent time with the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers. He holds career averages of 5.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.

The Silicone Veil

The Silicone Veil is the third studio album by Norwegian singer/songwriter Susanne Sundfør. It was released 23 March 2012 in Norway to critical acclaim. It was released in the United Kingdom on 15 October. It was recorded at Pooka Studio and Kikitépe Tearoom Studio. Three singles were released from the album, "White Foxes", "Among Us", and "The Silicone Veil". The video for "Among Us" was directed by Evan McNary. Sundfør chose the video as part of a competition by Genero.tv for fans to make a video for the single. It was premiered on the Vice subsite Noisey.Jørgen Træen mixed the album.

Susanne Sundfør

Susanne Aartun Sundfør (Norwegian pronunciation: [sʉˈsan̪ːə ˈɔʁ̞tun ˈsunføʁ̞]) (born 19 March 1986) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. She is the granddaughter of linguist Kjell Aartun. She was born in Haugesund and later moved to Oslo. She has released six studio albums. Three of which, The Brothel (2010), The Silicone Veil (2012) and Ten Love Songs (2015), have reached number one in Norway. Her sixth, Ten Love Songs, was released on 16 February 2015.

Career

When Sundfør was 12 she started taking singing lessons. After attending a music high school, Sundfør began making music as a hobby. Her first release was the 2006 single "Walls", which peaked at number three in the Norwegian singles chart. Her debut self-titled album was released in 2007 and peaked at number three in the Norwegian album chart. The album's second and last single "I Resign" was released in 2007.

In January 2008, Sundfør covered Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" at Store Studio, NRK. The following month, she was awarded Spellemannprisen for best female performance. She spurred nationwide debate when she, upon receiving the prize, said, "I am first and foremost an artist, not first and foremost a woman". By this, she was referring to a chauvinist introduction of the 2008 female nominees in the context of an ongoing debate whether having a gender-differentiated "artist of the year" prize was archaic or not. That same month, Sundfør appeared with a track on Mette-Marit, Crown Princess of Norway's album Sorgen og Gleden (The Sorrow and the Joy). Sundfør's contribution was the Norwegian folktune/psalm "Ingen Vinner Frem til Den Evige Ro" (No One Reaches the Eternal Calm), by Lars Linderot and Gustav Jensen.

Women's basketball

Women's basketball is one of the few women's sports that developed in tandem with its men's counterpart. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges. From 1895 until 1970, the term "women's basketball" was also used to refer to netball, which evolved in parallel with modern women's basketball.

The FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup features the top national teams from continental championships. The main North American league is the WNBA, whereas the EuroLeague Women has been dominated by teams from the Russian Women's Basketball Premier League. The NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship is also popular in the United States.

Early women's basketball

Women's basketball began in the winter of 1892 at Smith College. Senda Berenson, an instructor at Smith, taught basketball to her students, hoping the activity would improve their physical health. Basketball's early adherents were affiliated with YMCAs and colleges throughout the United States, and the game quickly spread throughout the country.
