Bec Judd weighs in on Channel Nine colleague Amber Sherlock and 'whitegate'

Amber Sherlock has been criticised for "attacking", "bullying" and even "demeaning" Julie Snook in the now viral, leaked video of the pair in conversation about an all-white wardrobe, however, their Nine colleague, Bec Judd, has defended the broadcasters.

Speaking to Fairfax Media inside the Jaggad Marquee at the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo, the Nine Postcards and weather presenter said: "I could totally see where Amber was coming from.

Nine News presenters wardrobe spat

Off air footage leaked to Mumbrella shows Nine journalists Amber Sherlock and Julie Snook have an awkward exchange over their choice of wardrobe.

"I can see why women would be uptight about [wardrobe] because they get criticised. Women are under such pressure, men don't get treated like that," she added.

"I think [the backlash] has been very unfair. Live TV is high pressure. Men wouldn't be treated the same, they would not have to deal with that.

"They are both incredible women. I have been able to work with both of them when I have been doing the weather and the 4pm news into Sydney, and they have been nothing but great to me."

Judd said she receives messages about her appearance "all the time", but unfortunately, she has had to learn to deal with it: "That's just a part of being me. It's part of my job," she laughed.

She has hit back on numerous occasions, most recently when defending her friend, Channel Sevens's Sunrise host, Samantha Armytage over Daily Mail Australia's coverage of her underwear, and in 2014 she took aim at the same publication for "judging women's bodies" under a headline: "OMG, do you eat?" But she has found a new way to counteract the online bullying.

"I just turn off comments now, it's the best thing ever," she said. "I feel like it's good because trolls love that attention and you can kill their attention by turning off comments, then there is nowhere for them to spread their bile.

"I feel like on social media, every idiot out there has a microphone to voice their opinion and certain media outlets pick up on those comments and run them as headlines. You should not run trolls comments as headlines but people do."

Judd and her husband, retired AFL star Chris Judd, welcomed identical twin boys, Tom and Darcy, in late September last year, and she says they are fitting in "so easy" with older brother Oscar, 5, and sister Billie, 3.

"Do you know what? They are actually the easiest babies I have ever had. They sleep all night. They never cry. I am truly blessed they are so amazing," she said.

Would she add any more to the brood? "No way, I am done. No more babies, ever," she laughed. "In this day and age, four is enough. People don't have four babies now, they have two."

Judd has enough on her plate anyway. Apart from balancing motherhood, Nine presenting duties (which she returned to on Monday) and renovating their home, she is also designing a new range for Jaggad – the sports luxe brand she co-owns with her husband, his friend and former AFL Hawk player Steve Greene and his wife, Michelle.

"We have a great design team but I think there are things we are missing, so I am designing it," she said.

"There will be more compression high-waisted pants, so when you are down doing your burpees – all of that unflattering stuff – it doesn't matter if your gut is hanging out, because you are looking nice and contained."

Asked where does she find the time? "I've always got a million things on," she laughed again.
