When submitting documentation, please cover up any personal information we don't need to verify your identity (ex: credit card number, Social Security number). We encrypt people’s connections to Facebook by default, including IDs you send to us. We delete your ID information after verification is complete.
Option 1: Government ID
One government-issued ID that contains your name and date of birth or your name and photo. Examples include:
  • Passport
  • Voter ID card
  • Driver’s license
  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate
  • Official name change paperwork
  • Tribal identification or status card
  • Personal or vehicle insurance card
  • Green card, residence permit or immigration papers
  • Non-driver's government ID (ex: disability, SNAP card, national ID card)
Option 2: Two Non-Government Options
Two different forms of ID from the following list. The names on your IDs must match each other. One of the IDs must include a photo or date of birth that matches the information on your profile so we can confirm that you're the owner of the account.

  • Permit
  • Transit card
  • Utility bill
  • Credit card
  • School ID card
  • Library card

  • Membership ID (ex: pension card, union membership, work ID, professional ID)
Option 3: Another Way to Confirm
If you don’t have an ID that shows both your authentic name and a photo or date of birth, you can provide an additional ID to help us match you to your Facebook profile. For this option, upload three IDs:
  • Two different forms of ID from Option 2 that both show your authentic name.
  • One additional ID that includes a date of birth or photo that matches the information on your Facebook profile. This ID can be from either Option 1 or 2 above, and the name on it doesn't have to match the other two IDs you submit. We won't add the name or other information from this ID to your account.

There are two reasons why you may be asked to send a scan or photo of an ID to Facebook:
  • To show account ownership: Your security is important to us. We ask for an ID so that we don't let anyone into your account except you.
  • To confirm your name: We ask everyone on Facebook to use the name they go by in everyday life. This helps keep our community safe.
Keep in mind that after you send us a photo or scan of your ID, we'll permanently delete it from our servers.
