The state government has released new images of what Scarborough Beach will look like once the $100 million redevelopment is finished.

On Saturday local MP and deputy premier Liza Harvey, along with Planning Minister Donna Farragher, announced the Georgiou Group had been awarded the $51 million contract to lead the project.

"Scarborough has transformed so much in recent years and visitors are flocking to the foreshore but these public facilities we are announcing today will really be the jewel in the crown," Ms Harvey said.

"Early next year Scarborough will once again play host to the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, bringing thousands of interstate and regional visitors to the area and providing a great opportunity to showcase the refreshed beachfront."

The $100 million redevelopment is being delivered by the state government investing $48 million and the City of Stirling $53 million. The project includes the new 50 metre swimming pool at Scarborough Beach.

Building work on the project is expected to continue throughout 2017.
