Flood Warning for the Upper Belyando River

Issued at 9:29 am EST on Sunday 15 January 2017
Flood Warning Number: 3

Creek rises are continuing along Alpha Creek during Sunday.

Areas of heavy rainfall up to 140 mm were recorded with thunderstorms during
early Saturday morning in the Alpha Creek catchment. In the 24 hours to 9:00 am
Sunday there has been no further significant rainfall. Further showers and
thunderstorms are possible for the remainder of the weekend.

Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the upper reaches of Alpha Creek at
Rivington. Strong river level rises are also expected to occur further
downstream to Alpha township during Sunday. Renewed rises are possible in
association with further heavy rainfall.

The Alpha Creek at Alpha township is expected to remain below the minor flood
level (7.00 m).

the SES on 132 500. For life threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000)
immediately.
