In Soundtrack To This Moment, Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner performs an intimate one-off improvised solo set on a Tokyo rooftop to a crowd of about 80 people. The rooftop space and surrounding views of the city influence Zinner's playing which in turn influences the colors and movements of a set of projections thereby capturing the sense of a unique moment in time and space as interpreted and effected by Zinner's mood and guitar playing.

In response to the 41st anniversary of Earth Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner composed the extraordinary 41 Strings. The piece is part concerto in the classical tradition, but with the modern rock 'n' roll feel one would expect from Zinner.
A musician who consistently surprises with his versatility, Zinner conducts and plays an in-the-round experience with an impressive line-up of acoustic and electric strings, ranging from violins to electric bass (with some drums and synths thrown in for good measure).
Using Vivaldi's Four Seasons as inspiration, Zinner's music chronicles the ups and downs of the seasons in a swirling mass of strings and percussion. At times dark and moody, 41 Strings is also hopeful and ultimately joyful.
Joining Zinner for the 41 Strings' second ever outing are friends and co-collaborators Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice, The Boredoms) and Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Together with a core band and members of the Australian Youth Orchestra they complete the large string ensemble.

Nick Zinner
Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Zinner (born December 8, 1974) is the guitarist for the New York rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs. He is known for his "unmistakable" wild hair, skinny physique, and pale appearance. Zinner is an accomplished photographer.
Musical career
Before forming the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs with Karen O and Brian Chase in 2000, Zinner attended Bard College where he played in the Boba Fett Experience, who later changed their name to Challenge of the Future because of concerns about being sued by George Lucas. The band moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn in the late 1990s and broke up in 2001.
Since 2001, Zinner has many collaborative efforts with such acts as TV on the Radio, Har Mar Superstar, Ronnie SpectorThe Horrors, and Scarlett Johansson. He contributed guitar and keyboard to several tracks on Bright Eyes' 2005 album Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and went on tour with the band as part of the rotating roster.
In 2005 Zinner formed a band Head Wound City along with members from The Locust and The Blood Brothers.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. They are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo, who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif who had previously held this role. According to an interview that aired during the ABC network's Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band's name was taken from modern New York City vernacular.
The band has recorded four studio albums; the first, Fever to Tell, was released in 2003. The second, Show Your Bones, was released in 2006 and was named the second best album of the year by NME. Their third studio album, It's Blitz!, was released on March 31, 2009 in the US and on April 6, 2009 elsewhere. Their fourth album, Mosquito, was released on April 15, 2013. The band has been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

Sydney Festival
Sydney Festival is a major arts festival in Australia's largest city, Sydney that runs for three weeks every January, since it was established in 1977. The festival program features in excess of 100 events from local and international artists and includes contemporary and classical music, dance, circus, drama, visual arts and artist talks. The festival attracts approximately 500,000 people to its large-scale free outdoor events and 150,000 to its ticketed events, and contributes more than A$55 million to the economy of New South Wales.
History
The origins of the Sydney Festival are in the Waratah Festival which was established in 1956 by the Sydney Committee and took place from late October to early November, coinciding with the blooming of the NSW emblematic flower the Waratah. It was an important cultural event which included a parade, a popular art competition, beauty contests, exhibitions, performances and the Lord Mayor's reception at the Sydney Town Hall.
Sydney Festival was established by the Sydney Committee, the NSW State Government and the City of Sydney with a view to attracting people into the city centre during the summer holiday month of January. In many ways it is probably still best understood as a celebration of Sydney and what the city has to offer. In the festival's early years, its program offered everything from vintage car rallies, face-painting and kite-flying to bocce, dog obedience trials and Chinese scarf dancing.

In response to the 41st anniversary of Earth Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner composed the extraordinary 41 Strings. The piece is part concerto in the classical tradition, but with the modern rock 'n' roll feel one would expect from Zinner.
A musician who consistently surprises with his versatility, Zinner conducts and plays an in-the-round experience with an impressive line-up of acoustic and electric strings, ranging from violins to electric bass (with some drums and synths thrown in for good measure).
Using Vivaldi's Four Seasons as inspiration, Zinner's music chronicles the ups and downs of the seasons in a swirling mass of strings and percussion. At times dark and moody, 41 Strings is also hopeful and ultimately joyful.
Joining Zinner for the 41 Strings' second ever outing are friends and co-collaborators Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice, The Boredoms) and Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Together with a core band and members of the Australian Youth Orchestra they complete the large string ensemble.

In response to the 41st anniversary of Earth Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner composed the extraordinary 41 Strings. The piece is part concerto in the classical tradition, but with the modern rock 'n' roll feel one would expect from Zinner.
A musician who consistently surprises with his versatility, Zinner conducts and plays an in-the-round experience with an impressive line-up of acoustic and electric strings, ranging from violins to electric bass (with some drums and synths thrown in for good measure).
Using Vivaldi's Four Seasons as inspiration, Zinner's music chronicles the ups and downs of the seasons in a swirling mass of strings and percussion. At times dark and moody, 41 Strings is also hopeful and ultimately joyful.
Joining Zinner for the 41 Strings' second ever outing are friends and co-collaborators Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice, The Boredoms) and Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Together with a core band and members of the Australian Youth Orchestra they complete the large string ensemble.

Since 2001, Zinner has many collaborative efforts under his belt with such acts as TV on the Radio, Har Mar Superstar, Ronnie Spector The Horrors, and Scarlett Johansson. He contributed guitar and keyboard to several tracks on Bright Eyes' 2005 album Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and went on tour with the band as part of the rotating roster.
In 2005 Zinner formed a band Head Wound City along with members from The Locust and The Blood Brothers.
Zinner produced the re-mix of the track 'Compliments' on British group Bloc Party's 2005 album Silent Alarm Remixed, and has remixed The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower's song, "INRI," on their INRI ep. Zinner has also remixed Single Frame's song, "People are Germs," in addition to appearing in the music video.
In early 2011 Zinner contributed guitar to the song "Go" by Santigold.
In May 2011 Zinner was commissioned to curate, compose and lead a performance 41 Strings in NYC to celebrate the 41st Earth Day. The performance, in which he collaborated with musicians Hisham Bharoocha,Ben Vida and the Australian Youth Orchestra, involved 41 players of various stringed instruments, plus additional percussion and synthesiser parts.

Since Mad Max: Fury Road experienced a lengthy development, multiple composers were attached to the film at various times including John Powell and Marco Beltrami. In October 2013, it was officially announced that Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL would be composing the film's music.[5] After being contacted by Warner Bros. Senior Vice President Darren Higman, Holkenborg flew to Sydney where he viewed a three-hour workprint of the film and met with director George Miller.[6] Because of Holkenborg's work on 300: Rise of an Empire and his on-the-spot ideas for Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller hired him, and he immediately began work on writing the film's themes. Senior Vice President Darren Higman, Holkenborg flew to Sydney where he viewed a three-hour workprint of the film and met with director George Miller.[6] Because of Holkenborg's work on 300: Rise of an Empire and his on-the-spot ideas for Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller hired him, and he immediately began work on writing the film's themes. "I got in August of 2013 and we [didn't finish] until August 2014," said Holkenborg. "When you're so early in the game, you have so much room of experimentation."
Similar to Brian May, who composed the scores to Mad Max and Mad Max 2, Holkenborg was inspired largely by the work of Bernard Herrmann. "One of my favorite time periods in film scoring is the 1940s and 1950s and in the early 60s during the golden days of Bernard Herrmann and the start of Ennio Morricone," said Holkenborg. "There was so much rich material written then and George and I wondered why more of that wasn’t being used in film scores today." Holkenborg also drew inspiration from the rock opera genre, utilizing hundreds of drums and constructing electric guitar-driven themes.
Recorded at Trackdown Studios in Sydney, a majority of the score was performed by Holkenborg himself. "I basically played everything myself except for the strings and the brass that we recorded as a section in Sydney," said Holkenborg "I worked with Nick Zinner, the guitarist from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on a couple of cues. He's got this really wonderful tone, so we added some guitars."
The score was later played for the film's actors during ADR sessions to gain a musical awareness of the film. "I know that George played the music to the actors when they came in to do the ADR," said Holkenborg. "Once they saw rough cuts of their scenes with the music that I did, they got a whole different idea of how they should have handled the ADR."

In response to the 41st anniversary of Earth Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner composed the extraordinary 41 Strings. The piece is part concerto in the classical tradition, but with the modern rock 'n' roll feel one would expect from Zinner.
A musician who consistently surprises with his versatility, Zinner conducts and plays an in-the-round experience with an impressive line-up of acoustic and electric strings, ranging from violins to electric bass (with some drums and synths thrown in for good measure).
Using Vivaldi's Four Seasons as inspiration, Zinner's music chronicles the ups and downs of the seasons in a swirling mass of strings and percussion. At times dark and moody, 41 Strings is also hopeful and ultimately joyful.
Joining Zinner for the 41 Strings' second ever outing are friends and co-collaborators Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle, Black Dice, The Boredoms) and Ben Vida (Soft Circle, Town and Country, Bird Show). Together with a core band and members of the Australian Youth Orchestra they complete the large string ensemble.

In October 2013, it was officially announced that Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL would be composing the film's music.[5] After being contacted by Warner Bros. Since Mad Max: Fury Road experienced a lengthy development, multiple composers were attached to the film at various times including John Powell and Marco Beltrami. In October 2013, it was officially announced that Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL would be composing the film's music.[5] After being contacted by Warner Bros. Senior Vice President Darren Higman, Holkenborg flew to Sydney where he viewed a three-hour workprint of the film and met with director George Miller.[6] Because of Holkenborg's work on 300: Rise of an Empire and his on-the-spot ideas for Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller hired him, and he immediately began work on writing the film's themes. "I got in August of 2013 and we [didn't finish] until August 2014," said Holkenborg. "When you're so early in the game, you have so much room of experimentation."
Similar to Brian May, who composed the scores to Mad Max and Mad Max 2, Holkenborg was inspired largely by the work of Bernard Herrmann. "One of my favorite time periods in film scoring is the 1940s and 1950s and in the early 60s during the golden days of Bernard Herrmann and the start of Ennio Morricone," said Holkenborg. "There was so much rich material written then and George and I wondered why more of that wasn’t being used in film scores today." Holkenborg also drew inspiration from the rock opera genre, utilizing hundreds of drums and constructing electric guitar-driven themes.
Recorded at Trackdown Studios in Sydney, a majority of the score was performed by Holkenborg himself. "I basically played everything myself except for the strings and the brass that we recorded as a section in Sydney," said Holkenborg "I worked with Nick Zinner, the guitarist from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on a couple of cues. He's got this really wonderful tone, so we added some guitars."
The score was later played for the film's actors during ADR sessions to gain a musical awareness of the film. "I know that George played the music to the actors when they came in to do the ADR," said Holkenborg. "Once they saw rough cuts of their scenes with the music that I did, they got a whole different idea of how they should have handled the ADR."
