In grammar, an interjection or exclamation is a word used to express a particular emotion or sentiment on the part of the speaker (although most interjections have clear definitions. Filled pauses such as uh, er, um are also considered interjections. Interjections are often placed at the beginning of a sentence.
An interjection is sometimes expressed as a single word or non-sentence phrase, followed by a punctuation mark. The isolated usage of an interjection does not represent a complete sentence in conventional English writing. Thus, in formal writing, the interjection will be incorporated into a larger sentence clause.
Interjection as a figure of speech refers to the use of one word. For example, lawyers in the United States of America traditionally say: Objection! or soldiers: Fire!.
Conventions like Hi!, Bye! and Goodbye! are interjections, as are exclamations like Cheers! and Hooray!. They are very often characterized by exclamation marks depending on the stress of the attitude or the force of the emotion they are expressing. Well (a short form of "that is well") can also be used as an interjection: "Well! That's great!" or "Well, don't worry." Much profanity takes the form of interjections. Some linguists consider the pro-sentences yes, no, amen and okay as interjections, since they have no syntactical connection with other words and rather work as sentences themselves. Expressions such as "Excuse me!", "Sorry!", "No thank you!", "Oh dear!", "Hey that's mine!", and similar ones often serve as interjections. Interjections can be phrases or even sentences, as well as words, such as "Oh!" "Pooh!" "Wow!" or "sup!".

Schoolhouse Rock! is an American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films (and later, videos) that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming on the U.S. television network ABC. The topics covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series' original run lasted from 1973 to 1985; it was later revived with both old and new episodes airing from 1993 to 1999. Additional episodes were produced in 2009 for direct-to-video release.
Schoolhouse Rock! began as a commercial advertising venture by David McCall, half of the Madison Avenue advertising agency McCaffrey & McCall. The idea came to McCall when he noticed one of his sons, who was having trouble in school remembering the multiplication tables, knew the lyrics to then-current rock songs.
The first song recorded was "Three Is a Magic Number", written by Bob Dorough. It tested well, so a children's record was compiled and released. Tom Yohe listened to the first song, and began to doodle pictures to go with the lyrics. He told McCall that the songs would make good animation.
Age of Empires is a series of personal computer games developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Studios. The first title of the series was Age of Empires, released in 1997. Since then, seven titles and three spin-offs have been released. The titles are historical real-time strategy games, and their gameplay revolves around two main game modes: Single player and campaign. They competed with another popular strategy series, Civilization, and are set amidst historical events.
Age of Empires focused on events in Europe, Africa and Asia, spanning from the Stone Age to the Iron Age; the expansion game explored the formation and expansion of the Roman Empire. The sequel, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, was set in the Middle Ages, while its expansion focused partially on the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The subsequent three games of Age of Empires III explored the early modern period, when Europe was colonizing the Americas and several Asian nations were on the decline. The newest installment, Age of Empires Online, takes a different approach as a free-to-play online game utilizing Games for Windows Live. A spin-off game, Age of Mythology, was set in the same period as the original Age of Empires, but focused on mythological elements of Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology.
This is from the 1970s. I remember it from when I was a kid! Enjoy!

My favorite of the "Grammar Rock" tunes, because it shows excitement or emotion and is generally set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong. Music & lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Vocals by Essra Mohawk. ABC-TV, 1974

What Is an Interjection ?? An interjection is one of the eight major parts of speech, along with verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions. Some grammarians believe that interjections are the least important part of speech. This is because interjections are not generally required in order for the meaning of a sentence to become clear. An interjection is a word solely designed to convey emotion. It expresses meaning or feeling. It does not: relate grammatically to the other parts of the sentence help the reader understand the relationship between words and phrases in the sentence Instead, it simply conveys to the reader the way the author is feeling. Interjections are rarely used in academic or formal writing but are common in fiction or artistic writing....
Take a detour from the standard cycle of things. Instead of following nature's progression of landmass creation and seed distribution, interject human disruption and manufacturing. The result is an environmental change at the hands of paper production, the by-product of pulp and fiber harvest. This is a short film that I created for a festival I got the opportunity to enter in Milan, Italy. The word 'basta' in Italian is the imperative form of the word "stop" or "enough" particularly when used as an interjection. The "(rd)" on the end is just an obvious pun :) I took a different approach with this project than I usually do with my other projects. I wanted to make a piece, very powerful, but also very open-ended... and see what viewers think of it. So this is where you come in! Tell me what you think it means to you or what this might say overall about domestic violence. I was not trying to create a linear piece of story with this project, so clearly there isn't a conclusion or resolution. It is more of a glimpse into a moment in time where we see real events occur that real...

He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushy branched-out and multifaceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.

My senior thesis film at UC Santa Cruz. The borders of perception blur when undesired realities interject themselves into actuality. (How's that for a single line synopsis sprinkled with film theory?) Everything was shot with a Canon 60D. Thank you to Jairo Brito for the car mount and underwater housing.
Base Motion presents its new online interview series, “Perspectives”. While interviews traditionally present what people have to say, in “Perspectives” the interviewees don’t actually say anything. With the spoken portion of the footage edited out, “Perspectives” leaves only body language, pauses for thought, and interjections to do the communicating. “Typically people think of ‘content’ only as what’s literally being said. The content of ‘Perspectives’ is based on the idea that what’s not being said says something of its own.” Each episode is a selfcontained expression—mysterious, bite-sized, entertaining. But it isn’t until you watch several in a row that you begin to see the beauty of it, and it starts to work on a different level.
