Horror, fear, anger, disgust, and shame were just some of the emotions I experienced as I watched Donald Trump's appalling press conference on Wednesday. If you didn't see it, you cannot begin to imagine how truly terrifying it was. And next Friday, Mr Trump will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States. It will be recorded in history as one of Western democracy's darkest hours.
As we stand with Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea in remembering those who lost their lives to Ebola and in celebrating the end of the epidemic, we must not forget that life has got worse, rather than better, for some of Ebola's hardest-hit orphans and it is not time for us to turn away yet.
Why is The Equality Trust supporting the Women's March on London? Well that's a no-brainer if you know your economics. We may have a female prime minister, but we still have a gender pay gap. Many women's refuges are being lost and young women and girls are suffering sexism in school corridors. None of this is conducive to equality or being economically brutal, female productivity.
I support what unions stand for and I certainly understand and respect the case ASLEF and the RMT have put forward regarding the train guard dispute but I can understand why everyday commuters trying to make an honest living may be frustrated with the situation that prevails.
What's happening in the NHS right now is no laughing matter of course, but if feels like a similar corrective is needed. There is no 'winter crisis' in the NHS. What the NHS is facing - and has been for some time - requires no prefix. It is simply a crisis.
His many public spats aside, it is impossible to deny that Trump has leveraged social media, and Twitter specifically, in a way that no other politician has previously achieved -- and he has already indicated his intention to tweet major policy announcements rather than going through traditional communications channels.
Whether you go Swedish with lagom or Danish with hygge, you are without doubt destined for great happiness (although where was hygge when Hamlet needed it?). It seems that all our troubles can be solved with a dash of Scandi. Thankfully, lagom presents precisely the same opportunities to be smug as hygge did. You're just doing it in a less wintery way.
The kids were super excited about the trip, they didn't complain, they loved the packing and they were fine saying goodbye to toys, family and friends. But, behaviour did take an understandable nosedive. They went from being pretty helpful and calm to being far trickier than normal.
Kadcyla is a wonder drug, keeping my lung tumours stable and healing the cancerous tumours in my spine to a point where there is No Evidence of Active Disease. I know others who've had similar amazing results, enabling them to return to work, care for their families, and contribute to society at large.
Is it always useful to know what someone wants in a partner? Or do we run the risk of trying to fit that mould, instead of being ourselves?
The voices we heard in 2016 delivered unexpected political outcomes but I am not sure that we have yet fully understood what the message was. What is abundantly clear is that many people feel short-changed on hope. They want action. We must challenge our current circumstances both by acknowledging where we are and by calling for more and for better - better government, better funding and fairness, better life chances.Following an extraordinary year, here are my revised campaign priorities for the changed world in which we now live.
I've come away with too much to write, and no words to write it. We must protest to the limit against evil: before it occurs, as it happens, and in its aftermath. But there is also a need for silent reflection - in which we honour the victims, mourn our capacity for evil, and learn to beware.
The reality now for doctors is that we are often forced to choose to prioritise one patient over another, and we have found ourselves having to treat patients on the wrong ward or having to delay their care as we simply don't have the room or staff for them.
While the state of our healthcare system is always a topic of national debate, this crisis has highlighted a lack of recognition in terms of the huge pressures facing social care which in turn have a dramatic knock-on effect on the NHS. For people living with a terminal illness, there is often no need for them to be in hospital but if the right social care package isn't there, they may not have the option of going home.
Chris Ramsey is a stand-up comedian and actor from South Shields. He vlogs for The Huffington Post UK on his embarrassing moments, what inspired him to become a comedian and the best joke he's heard.
If 2016 proved anything it that is the current international situation is becoming less stable and predictable. In 2017, with our global institutions weaker, the re-emergence of an antagonistic Russia and the continuation of unconventional terrorist threats, the picture is not particularly rosy. The post-war global order is at risk and if we are to tackle this, it will only be achieved multilaterally.
Knowing Kym Marsh, who played Michelle, had been through the same thing herself meant you knew the emotions were genuine. I didn't feel I was watching actors on a soap, I felt I was watching the most personal, painful experience of a person's life. And in a way, I was.
I've always been my own worst critic and for too long, social media has enabled a personality trait that I've tried so hard to overcome. Having instant access to other people's carefully crafted lives is a sure-fire way to make you doubt your own progress, even when deep down, you know 80% of social posting is one big facade.
I'm a single gay dad. I have the most amazing 6 year old son by way of adoption. But despite living in a very cosmopolitan part of London (England), parents have bluntly told me that a playdate between our kids is not possible because of my "lifestyle" choice.
I never thought I would be in a place to write an honest letter to the attackers. I always hoped I would get to a place where the abuse and rape didn't define or affect me to a level where I was unable to engage in the world around. This day has come where I have finally let go of the past. I am not a victim. I am a survivor.
There is a big opportunity with employment. As someone with a learning disability, I know the struggles of finding work. Employers rarely seem to see past learning disability on your application, and employers are not confident enough to employ people with a learning disability.
I don't disagree with my husband that there probably is within us a subconscious, animalistic desire to procreate. I think there is much more to it than that, and only after having a baby myself and going through that first tumultuous year of parenthood can I understand the real driving force behind why we choose to have children.
