The US President-elect Donald Trump has angrily dismissed allegations that Russia has a secret 'shame file' on him as 'fake news. Mr Trump compared the leak against him to living in Nazi Germany and hit out at intelligence agencies and the media companies that published the claims. More

Australian entertainer Rolf Harris is facing a London court for the second time on indecent assault charges. The court heard today that he had made a series of 'brazen' sexual assaults on girls and women aged between 12 and 42, over a 33 year period. The 86 year old is pleading not guilty to all eight charges. More

German carmaker Volkswagen has been given a US$4.3 billion fine by American regulators, for rigging diesel emissions tests. US prosecutors have also charged six more Volkswagen executives for their roles in the conspiracy. More

A new survey by the Australian Industry Group has revealed hundreds of Australian business leaders are not confident in the Government's ability to manage the economy. Two hundred and eighty five company chief executives surveyed late last month regard the economy as 'fragile', and say business confidence has been eroded by Brexit, Donald Trump's US election win, and frustration at the lack of policy reform - and they don't expect business conditions or economic growth to improve this year.

Today marks a year since 49 year old Karen Chetcuti was murdered in the Victorian town of Whorouly. The crime, which came three months after a prisoner on parole raped and murdered an 11 year old girl in nearby Wangaratta, spurred local women Carol Roadknight and Tania Maxwell to set up a campaign to push for tougher sentencing for repeat violent and sexual offenders.
