Around 1.4 crore people in Punjab voted for their 117-member assembly today. Some 1,100 candidates had their fates sealed in the crucial election that saw a three-way contest between the ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, which debuted in the state polls this time. The 2017 Punjab elections saw several high-octane contests with incumbent Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal taking on his predecessor, Congress' Amarinder Singh, in the former's constituency of Lambi, and AAP lawmaker Bhagwant Mann challenging Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for the latter's Jalalabad seat. Former BJP lawmaker Navjot Singh Sidhu also contested as a Congress candidate from Amritsar East. The Congress seeks to regain the state from the SAD-BJP alliance, which has ruled Punjab...

Prime Time today visits a village – Sahdabar, lying on the outskirts of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh to understand from the populace what the deciding factors are when they choose a candidate to vote for in the elections. It becomes increasingly obvious that the women in rural areas have very little say in deciding whom to vote for and also that a significant number of people lack in political awareness and vote for those candidates that others vote for. Prime Time visits rural Punjab – a village called Bulepur to know whether the voters are politically aware and are able to identify the right candidates to vote for in the elections. With Punjab going to polls in the coming month, we observe there is a stark contrast between the psyches of voters of different age groups. The youth say that their primary concern is unemployment while all parties try to play freebie politics. Women in the village however say they depend on the men in their families to decide on a candidate to vote for. Akhilesh Yadav, who has become practiced at trying to coax his belligerent father into support rather than opposition, told NDTV today that he is "confident that Mulayam Singh will campaign for us in this election." Yesterday, Mulayam Singh, 77, categorically ruled that out, ending a brief respite in his alpha-contest with Akhilesh Yadav, who is aiming for re-election as Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister. Mulayam Singh said his son has erred by insisting on a partnership with the Congress, an arrangement that he had forbidden till he lost control of the Samajwadi Party to Akhilesh Yadav. Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of God has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
